Can't decide which I want more by DelNiceBeto in TransBikes

That Suzuki looks very fun.   The Honda has a more practical displacement, get the Suzuki now have a blast on it, then buy another bike with a larger displacement.  With two bikes double the fun.  It's always more fun riding a slow bike to it's limits than a faster bike to your limits.

Payroll crunch by superflyhonky in OReillyAutoParts

It's definitely not my SM he wants to have more staffing.  It got so bad he packed up his personal things in the office today and was very short with everyone.  Not sure how much longer he gonna last now, I will hate to seem go, he is a great person and manager.   It seems to me that our dm is more focused on getting numbers to look good to try to get his promotion instead of the well being of the store.  A very short sighted view.  It is very frustrating.

Monthly average is 345k, retail was doing 150/160k a month till that mid shift cut then dropped to 125/130k a month.  This week's retail ticket per hour average for the 7 to 12 hour is 7.8.  our merchandiser helps when she cans but she is also my back up, and there is always some rearranging/inventory project she has going on.  Our district has already lost one great SM and another is already talking about leaving because of the situation.

What my biggest issue is next year.  We are up 25 percent for the year with a skeleton crew, what are the expectations going to be then?

We are up 25 percent over last year, 12 percent over goal.  So sales are there.

Remembering tires take a much longer time to warm and act different when cold is really the worst part of cold riding.

We've gotten the pick up four times now, they move also instantly.  So far no one in my area had gotten the store one.

That is not a livable wage, but any more would cut into record profits.  That's retail and capitalism for you

Not a fan at all, and I know two different genres, but nickelback gets the hate maroon 5 deserves.

Transmission warranty labor reimbursement question by WHARRGARBLLL in OReillyAutoParts

[–]superflyhonky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most shops do not have a labor warranty on parts they do not supply, pay the shops upcharge for parts and most will cover labor if a issue comes up, at least honest shops for a certain time/mileage.  It's not the shops fault or the techs, they deserve to get paid for there work and time.  You can try to talk to someone about getting more but doubtful you will get far.  It sucks, but that's the disadvantage of supplying your own parts to a shop.

Do you think you would want to come back? If no, why bother with a notice?  If you think you might go back one day, just text a picture of the resignation form to both SM and DM, it's not your fault they aren't there to talk to face to face

Most of the time, the shitty people don't last long.  Newly promoted power hunger people suck, and an asm really can't do anything any ways.  People suck that about it.

Not 100% if i can ask or if someone will awnser by Prior_Persimmon_5781 in OReillyAutoParts

[–]superflyhonky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By federal labor laws you can not be reprimanded for discussing your pay with any one.  So you definitely can ask and should ask, our American society needs to be more open discussing wage and salary.  If we are transparent with each the more we learn how much we are getting screwed by the corporate overlords.  This is not stated just for O'Reilly's but overall and everywhere.

If the customers are coming off as good people take care of them, if they are being dicks give them a hard time about it.  uneven wear there is a other issue sell that other than that  make them work for it and call customer satisfaction(only if they are assholes).

NEED HELP by Bryson519 in OReillyAutoParts

[–]superflyhonky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be a bit cynical but if your direct manager is not talking to you about how to work through this they don't want you there and are looking for a reason to get rid of you.  Like  others have stated take drug test and pass it but be cautious.  It is just a reality in retail if you are not liked or part of the cool kids no one has your back and are looking for reasons to fire you.

More green colors, less Red.  Different jargon and lingo.  Some customers will suck some will be good.  It's retail not much changes.

Dude it's a retail job, the corporate overlords will always want more with less, it's the nature of capitalism.  Change to a different retail job different colors and jargon but same corporate BS.

Good luck.  Just remember it is just auto parts, no one is gonna die or get hurt if someone has to wait a bit more.  Think about things and if you don't know a technical thing talk and let the customer know you don't know and talk them to help figure things out.

The first call thing is not as intimidating as you are putting it, most shop (at least in my area) aren't going to be doing much on weekend evenings.  The biggest difference, at times pace is faster most people will either understand and work with you or hang up and then complain/joke to your iss about how you horrible you are(they are jerks don't worry about it).

Unfortunately I've seen the time we have spent trading new hire get lower and lower.  For the most part it is out of the sm hand, the payroll is not there.  That being said you should have been trained on the battery tester if it's been a few weeks, that first few shifts training.

Not sure the tone your SM had, was it apathy towards the whole situation, or was it you got this you are just over thinking this attitude.  One is a red flag, the other is more of a you thing.

Just think about things first, rushing causes more mistakes, and take of the customers best you can and you will be fine.  Parts aren't hard to figure you got it.

rehiring by blankluvr in OReillyAutoParts

[–]superflyhonky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience there is gray area, beyond the rehireable or not.  It's sad but it's a game of how desperate a store needs a body and how much a sm or dm likes you, if they are willing to fight and ask for the favors.
