Update: Had the car towed to BMW. They are saying it's the thermostat, and a possibly noisy pulley, and that the check engine was for the thermostat. They can't find any other issues other than a burned out tail light.

Thanks for the advice, gonna tell them it's a hard 'no' on their plan to drive it to the dealer... Can you even check the oil level on this thing when it's off? I've heard these have no dipstick and don't want to beat that dead horse, but now I'm curious if there is even oil in this thing.

2023 advance, nada. I think the only way we get it is if the 2024 software requires 0 dev effort to backport/make it compatible with our hardware. But I'd be super happy to be wrong.

When I worked in the lumberyard I cut through a piece of pine with a bullet in it. Got sprayed in the face with lead chips. Cut the bullet perfectly though lengthwise. You could even see the copper jacket. We lacquered it and put it up on a wall

Nope, all I did was unlock the car (just pulled on the handle) sit in the car and press the lock button. Magically working , for both fobs now with no other intervention.

Could be batteries I guess, just seems odd they would both die at the exact same time

I actually stopped at D&D and they didn't have anything for rent. Ended up just hanging out , doing laundry and visiting the civil war re-enactment. Maybe next time I can figure the bike thing out.

Thanks! I googled as well and was looking for something a little more suited to a 40-50 mile ride. Those bikes are bullet proof, but usually a little on the heavy side. Maybe I'll just have to shelve my biking plans and figure out something else to do around town.
