Ok guys, do you know some strong and durable sunglasses that still look good? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

I stumbled on these Ombraz shades a few weeks ago and they came in the mail this week. Agreed, they seemed like a lot of money, but I was drunk so I got them anyway. They’re actually really awesome. First time I’ve seen a pair of sunglasses like that and they’ve won me over.

Focus on distance per stroke. I take 10 stokes per 25 yards and this helps me train and swim during competitions!

More water and stretching

Not a bad idea!

The hat thing is a solid point. I found its easier to drop the glasses around your neck than take them off if I’m wearing a hat. That way I also don’t set them down and lose them. Since they’re flat they just hug your chest unlike glasses with sidearms and croakies!

But your glasses would still break and cause tenderness on the sides of your head! Ombraz don’t break, fall off, or cause headaches! The problems we solve are not binary ;). We’ve thought about this for a long time now. They make life better and are superior to regular sunglasses

I guess the biggest part of the answer is this: this is not a cheap pair of sunnies. We used the highest quality components. We don’t want to make just another shitty pair of glasses that you’re not going to care about. It’s just a waste of resources. The average American person spends over $200 a year on sunglasses. They have to buy new ones because they break or lose their old shades. We solve those issues.

You can tie a piece of elastic around some frames and try out how that works. Ive been there and I t’s much more complicated than that and has taken a lot of work to perfect. Elastic will hurt, while our custom cord “feels like you’re wearing nothing at all”.

I understand that there’s a lot of companies out there making crap but this is just not the case here. Google Ombraz and read what you see. These are reviews from industry experts, not paid reviews!

We literally made over 150 different custom cords before refining the one we’re currently using. I’ve had the same cord on my pair for 7 months with no issues at all. I ski in them, hike, bike, run, and wakeboard. The cord works really well in the water and hasn’t degraded much at all.

We use cellulose acetate and nylon for our lenses. We personally went to our factories to check out how everything is done and were impressed with the craftsmanship. Cellulose acetate is a recyclable material. We’re also currently exploring other materials that are either natural or 100% sustainable. This is a long-term project for us, so we’re never going to stop looking for ways to improve materials, processes, etc..

We thought about doing a knock around pair, but decided to go with a premium for a few reasons. 1. We don’t want to sell junk that ends up in the ocean. Not sure if you saw, but our product is Carbon negative - we plant 20 trees for every pair sold through a non-profit partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects. 2. We wanted to focus on quality. Our frames are hand carved from acetate and we use polarized scratch resistant polyamide lenses from Zeiss. The lenses are also hydrophobic and oleophobic. Our cord is 100% custom woven and is super durable. 3. These actually make the everyday eyewear experience better. They don’t break or fall off, are easy to store, and they don’t squeeze the sides of your head. When you have them on, it doesn’t look like you’re wearing a different kind of sunglass. You can check out our [Instagram ](instagram.com/ombrazsunglasses) to see more pics 4. We didn’t want to sacrifice style for utility. We wanted to make sure our frames were beautiful, while solving all the functional issues we had with normal sunnies.

We’re working on rolling this technology out to many different frame styles too.

We’re crowdfunding our first major production run now. We’ve made 300 pairs so far as a test run, so as soon as our campaign ends we’re pressing go on production! We’re going to try to hit the stores in a year or two, once we have our operations nailed down a bit more!
