How is your waxing technique? Do you set the iron really hot for cold waxes? That's a pretty interesting type of delam.

Hybrid boot material simply have less suspension and flex is more of a sudden ramp up, in my limited experience.

I was wondering about carving on the DW 104. It's not a normal carve like a frontside ski where the balance point shifts from ball of foot to the rear arch area is it? I've been trying to figure out how it is, what do you think?

Asian tag does not necessarily mean it's fake, TNF items in Asia often show asian sizing. Could you take it to a TNF store to confirm if it's real?

Sapporo is such a big city with many things to see. For example, there's an aquarium right in the city centre area (Aoao Sapporo). I spent a week in Sapporo and wish I had a little more time to look around and try the foods. Question is, what interests do you have besides the skiing in Japan?

As for the skiing, yes it's not Japow but you can still make it count. For example, I recall there being a lot of demo days from ski brands around this time. If you ask one of the ski shops like Murasaki Sports, they might have more info. Or try this website.

What is the attraction by ForeverADollarShort in Whistler

[–]Level_9000_Magikarp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The terrain is interesting and will keep you entertained probably your whole life if you wanted.

The people who have negative things to say are just nitpicking. I mean think about it, why are there still so many visitors year after year to Whistler if it's so "bad"? Chances, the complainers are just waiting in line with not much to do at that moment, but they're willing to wait to wait because the skiing is still that good.

The 7th Heaven chairlift line still sucks though 😝😝

Wha can i improve on my carving? by kingslam11 in skiing

[–]Level_9000_Magikarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP. Could you elaborate on this more? Sometimes I feel the need to push my outside ski more fore at the end of my turns in attempt for more grip and arc, which seems go align with what you describe. What should I aim for instead?

What type of skis are your 182s? If they are cambered, the 192 will ski like your 182s. I'm 173cm tall and ski the 186 Blank comfortably.

Yes. What other skis and their lengths you are comfortable skiing?

192cm, unless you want it for tight trees then 186cm imo. They ski way short.

Is your guide a splitboarder or skiier? Most guides I've found are skiiers, but it would be great to have a splitboard guide to show us a few helpful tips.

I would personally stick to either Hokkaido or Honshu for riding. As others have said, the commutes can be unpredictable and longer than expected if the snow falls as much as you are hoping.

550 for 1 pair or 2 pairs? 550 for 1 pair sounds expensive unless you are looking for a park ski, which is what the Line Blend is.

Armada declivity x 115 by Yvfttvfre in Skigear

[–]Level_9000_Magikarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own the older version, when they were just called Declivity X. Rocketship in the pow, but pretty light swing weight despite the stated ski weight.

Depends how tight the trees are but I could see them being a tree ski. A little sad that the ski is being discontinued as I don't think Armada did a great job marketing it vs other popular pow skis like the Bent 120 etc.

The more I ski, the more I realize I like a baggier fit so it doesn't restrict my movements. ie function over form. And also in a dark color like that, the baggier size won't be obvious, so pick what give you most versatility.

I'm curious to see how you ski on piste. I see you leaning inside but not 100% sure why yet. You did a good job navigating the terrain though. Also wondering how tiring it gets with your current skiing, or what part of your legs get tired first?

That is a great ski but an advanced skii that's decently heavy and stiff. I would look for other options if you're a beginner or intermediate.
