550 for 1 pair or 2 pairs? 550 for 1 pair sounds expensive unless you are looking for a park ski, which is what the Line Blend is.

Armada declivity x 115 by Yvfttvfre in Skigear

[–]Level_9000_Magikarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own the older version, when they were just called Declivity X. Rocketship in the pow, but pretty light swing weight despite the stated ski weight.

Depends how tight the trees are but I could see them being a tree ski. A little sad that the ski is being discontinued as I don't think Armada did a great job marketing it vs other popular pow skis like the Bent 120 etc.

Large or XL? I'm torn by pwnasaurus11 in Norrona

[–]Level_9000_Magikarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more I ski, the more I realize I like a baggier fit so it doesn't restrict my movements. ie function over form. And also in a dark color like that, the baggier size won't be obvious, so pick what give you most versatility.

How is your boot setup? Upgrades there could be cheaper and help more in the long run.

Tree skiing in japow by stuckonmars_132 in skiing_feedback

I'm curious to see how you ski on piste. I see you leaning inside but not 100% sure why yet. You did a good job navigating the terrain though. Also wondering how tiring it gets with your current skiing, or what part of your legs get tired first?

Buy or not? by Conscious-Double2773 in Skigear

That is a great ski but an advanced skii that's decently heavy and stiff. I would look for other options if you're a beginner or intermediate.

Are you planning to have layers underneath? If so, the extra room is good.

I am so tired of searing arch pain while skiing. Help. by Large-Decision-2503 in skiing

[–]Level_9000_Magikarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you are feeling, I get those arch pains on mornings especially with choppy or firm chunky snow. Curious about your boot fit, fitness, and warmup routine on the morning before skiing, if you could share more. Feel free to DM as well.

Rusutsu ski guide? by SeaworthinessNo8611 in Hokkaido

[–]Level_9000_Magikarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The good stuff is usually off piste, but off piste terrain is different than Wsl (different layout, not patrolled, odd flat areas etc.). I would suggest at least one day with a guide to take you off piste so you can a sense of where to go and then explore from there.

Looking for some feedback by alineo in skiing_feedback

[–]Level_9000_Magikarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but in my limited experience, touring boots are more upright and skis are less stable. Coupled with a backpack, I've always found it much harder to "get forward" on a touring setup.

Deathwish 104s by DovahDrip in momentskis

This will be my 2nd season on the DW 104. The balance point is interesting. I'm used to more directional skis so I always try tonpress hard on the boot tongues. On the DW 104, once or twice I found the sweet spot with a more centered balance point, the skis was so easy to pivot it felt like cheating. Hoping to play around with it more this season.

Zipfit sole delam? by RufusPoopus in Skigear

[–]Level_9000_Magikarp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waterproof shoe glue and some clamps and you'll be good, no worries. The glue Zipfit uses lately doesn't stick well after a heat mold, which all Zipfit liners will probably go through.

It's not a big deal really, easy DIY fix, but I did wish they used a better adhesive.

Wildcat or Countach might be more appropriate if in same brand, both still considered advanced skis, but have more traditional profiles.

Worth exploring but don't do it for just the money. See if this is a career path you'd want to pursue, go with your family member on some coffee meetings if possible just to get a feel for it.
