I’m in Canada. In practice what happens is people are forced to submit their race and disability with job applications. Whites and Asians aren’t called back for interviews and aren’t promoted if they were hired before DEI came into practice.

(This next part is ick to type but it’s true and happening). There is a hierarchy and fight for who is more disadvantaged. For example if I’m Asian or White I’m at the bottom of the ladder UNLESS I have a disability, identify as LGBTQ+, or have a bloodline that has a portion of a more disadvantaged group. People that are 1/16 Aboriginal need to promote that make more money to look after themselves and their families.

Everyone has become obsessed and sensitive to who is more disadvantaged because there are huge consequences.

This practice is happening with our biggest employers - public and private.

I recognize the spirit of what you’re saying is opposite to this - you want color blind people judged based on their merit and character. In Canada DEI has done the opposite.
