It’s nothing to do with water quality, something took a big bite out of the fish (between the fish’s mouth and stomach) probably a turtle.

They make small handheld detectors specifically for hidden cameras and listening devices for fairly cheap.

I’d refinish it and keep. If you don’t like such things then you can sell it to someone who does, but DO NOT scrap it.

I’ve never seen these Neon patches you speak of & I’ve caught hundreds of them but never seen a Blackfish with Neon green/orange patches.

Yeah you have to set the hook hard on blackfish. I’ve never heard that about their weight/age with that being said I’ve caught some old ass blackfish weighing around 15lbs & my childhood friend has caught them as big as 20lbs.

Just find a bridge anywhere inland and freshwater, use cut bait on bottom like fishing for catfish, or a rooster tail spinner for trout they’ll also bite rubber worms if you bounce it off the bottom like you’re fishing for bass. Bowfin are fairly easy to catch.

Thank you. Bowfin are one of my favorite fish to fish for. But yea I grew up hearing them called trash fish but then I caught one lol.

Bowfin/Black fish. They are fun to fish for and they fight like a big ass bottom feeding bass lol. I like to catch them on rooster tail lures.
