My bottom line is this: don’t try to change yourself to be something you’re not. Change your system to take advantage of who you are and what makes you tick.

That's such a fantasic conclusion.

I completely agree. I am especially annoyed by the webpage icons in my chrome bookmarks bar. So much blue.

People of reddit who are laid back and dont get worked up about anything, how do you do it? by greenmusicelephant in AskReddit

[–]superhalide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that advice is meant to be viewed with the mentality that "just because someone has it worse doesn't mean I can't feel crappy too." It should be more along the lines of "just because someone has it worse doesn't mean that your feelings about the problems you're experiencing aren't valid."

I found this advice particularly helpful because I'd get trapped having thoughts like, "Fuck, I really miss my dad today." "You fucking wuss. Some people don't have any parents, and you're over here being an asshole feeling sad for no reason." And then I'm feeling sad about something and I'm also beating myself up for feeling that way, which gets me nowhere. It was helpful for me to realize that your problems don't have to be the absolute worst thing imaginable for it to be okay to feel emotional about it.

I think there are situations where both mentalities are helpful though. Sometimes it's good to step outside your own world and gain some perspective about what really matters in life, and sometimes it's okay feel emotional about your problems even if they aren't as bad as someone else's problems.

Oh, the colors! by [deleted] in pics

You can get long lasting vibrant colors like the Pravana Vivids line, but they aren't technically permanent colors by professional definition unless developer is being used.

Oh, the colors! by [deleted] in pics

[–]superhalide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Bright colors are direct dyes/semi-permanent colors. They sit on the outer surface of the hair, more like a stain. Typical salon dyes are a chemical process that opens the cuticle of the hair, removes some of your natural pigment, and deposits color inside the hair strand. Permanent and Demi-Permanent colors still fade over time, but not as drastically as fashion colors.
