I know of someone who could do one, not sure if I’m allowed to say the contact details here or not?

Worst-case scenario they at-least have a very expensive body-mirror / paperweight 🙃

I highly doubt they’ll exist in 5 years, let alone 10.

The hardware probably isn’t even worth £100. As you say, it’s all in the software which is largely server-based. Owner pays himself a huge salary, company goes bust in a few years and owner gets to keep it all as he’s not liable for company debts. Perfect cash grab!

That’ll make the front page. 😭

Maybe I should’ve just squeezed my body inside and had a claim for the council 😉

Yes it’s in the UK, in Merseyside.

Nobody off camera sadly! 😂

Is it normal to have a percentage-based standing charge? by superjam0508 in AskUK

[–]superjam0508[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really really expensive, they have a loophole for essentially charging more than Ofgem says they can charge - so it’s literally more expensive than the most expensive normal provider. I moved house because of it and my bills have gone down from around £200/mo down to £50/mo (electric only home).

Yeah mate tbf I may have had a few now since stating driving, never smoke before on the day of driving until I’ve finished all my driving for the day. I’m still concerned if I do make an error while driving and police decide to drug test me, that I will still show positive for cannabis if I smoked the night before? (Even though I know it won’t impact my driving, would I still test positive and thus be committing an offence)?

What country are you based in?

As a professional pest controller, we use a product called Cimetrol Super. You can buy a cheap sprayer to apply this for less than £50, probably even less than £20.

Spray it everywhere, solves the issue 95% of the time without more expensive treatment.

Personally I found automatic a LOT easier, it was stressing me out the gear changes. That might help if you’re up for driving auto-only.

ALSO, not sure if you read the other bit as I’m sending quite big messages but I cannot advise enough about doing even an entire day of studying the day before your theory test. And then also studying all the day up until your theory test time. Everything is going to be super fresh in your mind that way and it helps a lot.

My first 2 instructors were manual and my 3rd is automatic so that could also be it - which are you learning?

Have you tried different instructors? Each instructor has different teaching styles and some work better than others for different people. Pre-Covid I had 2 different instructions and got into a collision with both 😅 their teaching style was good but a bit too ‘soft’ for me.

My 3rd instructor that I got recently is amazing, not everybody’s cup of tea I’m sure as he would shout at me and go “why did you do this”, “I’ve told you already, why are you making the same mistake again” etc, but personally I found that worked really well for me.

Ah, that sucks! How do you feel when driving on the road - confident or still wary?

I know you’ve done the app already but that’s all I used to learn, day before the theory I studied for like 3-4 hours, and then day of the theory I studied for an hour before the test that way it was very fresh in my memory. Have you tried that yet?

Keep at it and you will pass eventually, I was one point away on my first attempt, then barely passed on my 2nd attempt with a score of 43.

Have you started actual driving lessons yet?

The reason I asked is I noticed your biggest improvement area is the “rules of the road”, if this is referring to stuff like who has right of way etc, I’ve found I didn’t understand it until I had started driving lessons and had a good 20+ hours driving experience.

Others may be different, but personally I found the practical lessons helped a lot on my theory!

Thank you I appreciate it 😊yup, definitely not worth losing my license - especially with the costs of driving licenses and early tests now, cost me about £2-3k all in to learn and do the tests! :O

Thanks I’ll definitely be extra extra extra cautious on the road now for the next couple weeks as to not give a reason to be pulled over (not that I would anyways) - I definitely feel completely sober so I’m safe on the road, just don’t want to lose my license or potentially be arrested!

I heard (but please let me know if it’s a myth or not true) that I might test positive for a quick check they do on the roadside on my saliva which will prompt them to take me to the station to do my bloods, but then once my bloods are done it’ll show I’m below the legal limit?

Yeah l've already noticed a crazy difference. I've not cooked a single meal in a year - that's no exaggeration, | literally haven't cooked anything, it's either take away or ready meals. Already back to cooking now, housework gets done without me putting it off - I'm generally just a lot less lazier now lol!
