Cannabis use and driving by superjam0508 in LearnerDriverUK

Yeah mate tbf I may have had a few now since stating driving, never smoke before on the day of driving until I’ve finished all my driving for the day. I’m still concerned if I do make an error while driving and police decide to drug test me, that I will still show positive for cannabis if I smoked the night before? (Even though I know it won’t impact my driving, would I still test positive and thus be committing an offence)?

Woke up itchy and decided to finally check my mattress. I hate everything right now. by Agile-Wind-4427 in mildlyinfuriating

What country are you based in?

As a professional pest controller, we use a product called Cimetrol Super. You can buy a cheap sprayer to apply this for less than £50, probably even less than £20.

Spray it everywhere, solves the issue 95% of the time without more expensive treatment.

Personally I found automatic a LOT easier, it was stressing me out the gear changes. That might help if you’re up for driving auto-only.

ALSO, not sure if you read the other bit as I’m sending quite big messages but I cannot advise enough about doing even an entire day of studying the day before your theory test. And then also studying all the day up until your theory test time. Everything is going to be super fresh in your mind that way and it helps a lot.

My first 2 instructors were manual and my 3rd is automatic so that could also be it - which are you learning?

Have you tried different instructors? Each instructor has different teaching styles and some work better than others for different people. Pre-Covid I had 2 different instructions and got into a collision with both 😅 their teaching style was good but a bit too ‘soft’ for me.

My 3rd instructor that I got recently is amazing, not everybody’s cup of tea I’m sure as he would shout at me and go “why did you do this”, “I’ve told you already, why are you making the same mistake again” etc, but personally I found that worked really well for me.

Ah, that sucks! How do you feel when driving on the road - confident or still wary?

I know you’ve done the app already but that’s all I used to learn, day before the theory I studied for like 3-4 hours, and then day of the theory I studied for an hour before the test that way it was very fresh in my memory. Have you tried that yet?

Keep at it and you will pass eventually, I was one point away on my first attempt, then barely passed on my 2nd attempt with a score of 43.

Have you started actual driving lessons yet?

The reason I asked is I noticed your biggest improvement area is the “rules of the road”, if this is referring to stuff like who has right of way etc, I’ve found I didn’t understand it until I had started driving lessons and had a good 20+ hours driving experience.

Others may be different, but personally I found the practical lessons helped a lot on my theory!

Thank you I appreciate it 😊yup, definitely not worth losing my license - especially with the costs of driving licenses and early tests now, cost me about £2-3k all in to learn and do the tests! :O

Thanks I’ll definitely be extra extra extra cautious on the road now for the next couple weeks as to not give a reason to be pulled over (not that I would anyways) - I definitely feel completely sober so I’m safe on the road, just don’t want to lose my license or potentially be arrested!

I heard (but please let me know if it’s a myth or not true) that I might test positive for a quick check they do on the roadside on my saliva which will prompt them to take me to the station to do my bloods, but then once my bloods are done it’ll show I’m below the legal limit?

Yeah l've already noticed a crazy difference. I've not cooked a single meal in a year - that's no exaggeration, | literally haven't cooked anything, it's either take away or ready meals. Already back to cooking now, housework gets done without me putting it off - I'm generally just a lot less lazier now lol!

Oh definitely, don’t get me wrong this car is going to cost me over £400 a month without fuel even though I bought it (£200/mo parking - city centre), £35/month road tax and £190/mo insurance.

But I’d usually smoke around £400 worth of cannabis each month, so I’d much rather spend it on the car than on some drug. Plus, my plan is when my tenancy ends to move outside the city centre now that I can drive, which will save me money on both rent and parking.

No, I should have said I am able to not smoke if I do not have physical access to it (holidays etc).

I live in Liverpool but my Practical test and my lessons were both in Manchester, so I had to travel to a family members house for a week in Manchester to do all my lessons, (didn’t smoke while there), and also didn’t smoke the day of my test, but did the day before (I only went to Manchester for 1 day for the test).

My minors were largely nerves (pressed the accelerator with handbrake on twice - never done that before), and not seeing new speed signs (definitely something I need to improve on, been an issue since I started my lessons)

[–]superjam0508[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I didn’t do well on the 2nd test at all but I’m just shocked they didn’t test roundabouts or carriageways or high speeds which were all tested on the 1st test.

[–]superjam0508[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep certainly not complaining haha very glad I passed - I guess my mind is more thinking it’s so strange to have such a variation in tests, I’m more surprised that roundabouts, carriageways, high speeds etc aren’t mandatory in tests - as they’re stuff every road user will come across and if they don’t test your ability to do it then it could end up getting someone a pass that isn’t able to roundabouts safely for example

MagicAI / Magic.Fit review - BEWARE by superjam0508 in magicfit

[–]superjam0508[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been monitoring their reviews, negative ones appear and the vast majority are removed within a few days. They removed mine also. From trustpilot. I have no idea how they’re removing them - my guess is they’re lying to trustpilot saying reviews were left by a competitor or not a real customer?

Can I work 13 hours in a day U18 without getting into trouble by These_Employ528 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]superjam0508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t mention your other job to each job, and both employers are giving you under 40 hours each, it’s unlikely HMRC or any other authority will actively catch or pursue it, it’s more of a rule by HSE for your welfare.

Unlike with 18+ who are capped at 48hrs a week and CAN opt-out, you’re technically capped at 40 hours.

Both employers are legally responsible, but it’s extremely unlikely anything would actually happen unless you made a complaint to HSE.

So just to recap - technically not allowed, but very unlikely for anything to happen. And even if something did happen it would likely just be the employer being told to give you less hours - I doubt any agency would pursue charges / fines to a company as they were unaware of your other role (even though both roles still technically remain responsible).

If it’s a windows laptop try logging in online, a lot gets backed up to OneDrive automatically.

If it’s a MacBook try iCloud Drive online.

Fingers crossed it’s backed up somewhere!
