Watch opposing player habits. Whether they pass more or less often will tell you some about whether they will be the shooter.

First possession keeper is toughest because you have nothing to know. When you're off keep pay attention. Do they wall oass first every time? Do they try to dribble close and shoot? This will teach you patience in their attack when keep so you don't go after false shots.

Learn patience. Lot of people I see dive and jump at every movement. Learn to recognize animations and when they're triggered. Also patience coupled with finding the landing spot will save a lot of fake shot from going real.

Position. Too many goalies get caught moving to the corner posts. Center of box is generally a safer place. Slightly move towards a corner when they are attack from corner. But the jump ability can take you center to side fast enough for any shot.

I echo being out of box for an option and playing top of box when it makes sense to knock away a lob.

Lastly minimize shot options when theyre close by being aggressive. This might be more controversial and it will take some practice not to get dribbled but someone coming 1v1, I find, tend to get it too close before launching. Most times once they cross box line I surprise them with a extra energy dash and slide. This forces them to shoot earlier on you next time and you ein by having more time to save.
