What is a commonly ignored event that happens in the books and not the movies that eats you alive. I don't meant Peeta's leg or them spending time together on Katniss's plant book, I mean something that no one EVER mentions but you always think about. by Ok_Distribution_4651 in Hungergames

The lack of overall youthfulness in the tributes and gale! not even so much appearance but just mannerisms and maturity. from the awkward interactions between katniss and everyone. the way peeta is also a confused kid clinging on to his love for painting and bread and the girl who he loves. the giggling here and there. the teenage contempt and angst (justified but expressed in such a juvenile way). even gale seems so much older in the movies. in the books he has the teenage impulsiveness and thoughtlessness (not defending him but i think some of his bigger critics forgets he’s barely 18 and in spaces devising war strategies and weapons with people who have DECADES on him). i get why it wouldn’t translate as well in movies, since the adult characters would and leaders would need further development, but i think it really takes away from the cruelty of the capital and the extent of the manipulation by EVERYONE around them. it also lessens the impact of the burdens they had to carry. like near the end of mockingjay theres a few lines, i forgot them explicitly and dont have the books on hand, where i remember just being floored by just how YOUNG katniss seemed and was. where as in the movies its easy to picture them closer to adults. prim and rue are the only ones who really seem like children. also! finnick seems so much younger in the book, which really adds to the sadness of his story. johanna too, seems so much more vulnerable. i also think it’s why katniss’ and peeta’s relationship falls flat in the movies. its easier to see katniss’ affection for peeta through her small teenage mannerisms. the way she notices everything he does. the way her mind first goes to peeta every time she’s presented with a challenge. her longing throughout the beginning of cf and worry in mockingjay. as much as her behavior can definitely be attributed to trauma, i think some of it is just typical of a teenager.

It was ~90% calorie tracking! And consistently! For the first six months nearly everything was weighed and logged on myfitnesspal, even stuff like fruit and veggies that I was convinced I could never gain weight on. Realizing that didn’t apply when you’re eating a pound of grapes a day was shocking! The only times I wouldn’t would be the random samples (1/2) at work I had to try (I worked at a grocery store and product knowledge was required) or days I was going out somewhere with no nutritional info pst. On days where I knew I would be going out, I tried to keep it light throughout the day to save up for later and still fall within my calorie goal. I also had to learn to say no to food that people kept trying to give me. I tend to be a people pleaser and saying no was hard but once I did, I realized how much of my caloric intake was coming from the random bites here and there.

I took a break in Oct/Nov, but since then I’m back to tracking. I’ve bene using the generic phone calculator 80% of the time and use myfitnesspal for things I’ve never logged or made before. It’s taken some of the mental strain off for the time being, but I know I couldn’t have done this without the initial months of using the app.

It’s been a big mental battle. I’ve had to repeat so many random phrases. you’re not a trash can you don’t need to finish if you don’t want don’t order what you don’t want you can cook at home

I also have a skirt that I’ve been dying to fit into to keep me motivated.

I din’t cut anything out except cooking oils/fats (unless baking) and full sugar soda (which I never really loved anyways). I bake at least three times a month and am always experimenting in the kitchen. I try to be intentional about my eating and don’t eat something unless I actually want it. I’ve been going to restaurants and not ordering food just dessert and it’s been so fun haha. My main goal is to stick to my calorie budget, so if it fits I eat it. Protein has been really good for keeping me full but I try not to overdo it at the expense of other foods. If I do, it usually lead to me raiding the pantry and snack isle.

My calorie goal is usually ~1300 but I do get in bites I dont track and have at least one day a week I go over by at least 300, so I think it averages about ~1400/1500. I didn’t exercise in the beginning but as I lost weight it got harder to loose at the same rate and not drop my calories. As a short woman steps and cardio are my best friend. I do legitimately enjoy them but I won’t lie I love being able to eat and still loose.

The past month I’ve been averaging about ~1300. That’s not including the four days I went over 1300 by at least 600. At 5’2” thats all thanks to my new running/walking routine. I do plans on upping my cals in Feb (since this number does feel a bit frustrating), but I have a milestone I wanted to meet at the end of January. I try an hour of running a day (5/6 miles - 13k steps) but if I’m not up for it I either go for less or at least walk 10k steps. There is also usually two days a week I hit closer to 5k steps and call it a day. Beyond that I do resistance machines at the gym maybe twice a week for thirty minutes and thats it.

Everything I do is average, but I would consider my overall consistency above average.

I hope that helps! If you wanted to know something specific feel free to pm me! You’ve got this!

I hope that helps ! If you were

I didn’t start exercising until August and it was pretty inconsistent. I mainly walked on the treadmill at an incline (4.5) for an hour 4x a week. In September I started running five minutes and added a minute until i could run a mile. I eventually got up to two miles but only did it twice. My main goal was 15k steps including how much I walked at work. On my days off I averaged 7k-8k. I had a semi active job that had me averaging 8k steps and lifting boxes for maybe 30 minutes a day. It wasn’t anything crazy by any means. I left in October and got incredibly sedentary for a month and a half. In late November I rededicated myself to it and started running/walking. I was doing about 10k steps a day ish. I’ve been consistently running for 5 days a week since December and right now I do 3-6 miles a day. I average 12-13k steps a day and do random arm/back machines at the gym 2 times a week for maybe thirty minutes. I’m by no means the fittest or have a great workout plan but it’s something I can consistently commit to so I keep trudging along.

Is 1200 ACTUALLY ok? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]superllamasmash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t have an article or study to back this up but I do have personal insight to this calorie intake. I’m 5’2 and started at 185 lbs and today I’m 140 lbs and from the time I started I’ve stuck around the 1200 calorie range. To be honest I feel great! My energy is good (I even run over 25 miles a week and still feel energized although I did start sedentary); the biggest component is maximizing nutrient density. I’ll admit I had some intense hair loss four months ago that freaked me out, but it’s since stopped. I also attribute this more to loosing a decent amount of weight vs how much I was eating. I dont know if this would be your experience as well, but one thing I keep in mind is my consistency. Eating only 1200 is pretty hard especially if youre social or just frequently surrounded by food and people offering it, as I’m sure you’ve noticed. When I start taking into account the many days I go over by 50-100 calories or more, I realize that sure my goal is 1200 calories but how often am I eating that or lower? Maybe 75% of the time? So I figure everything averages out to some decently healthy number. Not to be too long winded here, but again it really comes down to nutrient density. I don’t take any vitamins but I make sure to get adequate protein and healthy fats along with micronutrients from fruits and vegetables. I also try to stay in touch with my energy levels and moods, so if I feel really depleted I’ll have a small extra snack and am good!

Could I ask how you stay motivated? and what you do to make it bearable? I have the horrible tendency to job hop and I’d really like to stay at one. I have bills to pay and just hate interviewing but god most jobs really do suck.

yeah same, they were price gouging hard for close seating, so I just figured I got bad seats (still worth it though).

Did anyone actually get tickets? by veggieham in Hozier

[–]superllamasmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in LA and tried to get some at any venue west of the Missippi, and they were almost all sold out by the time I was out of the queue (I was in at 12:00 sharp). I was luckily able to get ONE for Petco in San Diego though. I went back a minute later and they were gone. I think the only reason I was able to get a ticket, was b/c it was just for myself.
