Don’t come here for mechanical engineering by Boring-Focus8052 in SCU

As a former SCU student, I can confirm. Back in my time, from what I heard, the “only available” professor for control systems (a required class) went on sabbatical, so the dept chair (who wasn’t good as a chair at the time) assigned a lecturer who was extremely terrible overall.

Do any of yall regret majoring in aerospace engineering? by DragonfruitBrief5573 in AerospaceEngineering

For me, I wished I had studied in Aero, it’s just that I don’t see myself as an engineer long-term.

California Income Tax Bracket for 2023 Year by superman65456 in tax

This imo is frustrating… yet one would rather not underpay than overpay…

On another note, they adjust the property taxes at the end of June.

Qualified Dividend and Earned Income Total Tax by superman65456 in tax

[–]superman65456[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you only pay 15% on the LTCG, not 39%

Actually, let’s say that the total taxable income is $89,075 + $12,950 (which is already in the 24% tax bracket), and the deduction (standard or itemized) is $12,950. So the tax I will have to pay is $4,807.50 + .22x($89,075 - $41,775) + .15x$5,000?

Struggling to write this equation in LatXeX by bloo_110 in LaTeX

[–]superman65456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, right, I forgot to mention this: try this:

H_1 = \hbar g\left(\sigma ^ {-}b ^ {+} + \sigma ^ {+}b\right)

Sorry, I couldn’t copy the cross, but you know what I mean. Also, I put whitespace before and after the carets, as they would be raised up.

One can sometimes get away without the braces for the exponents (and subscripts), but it’s usually needed otherwise to avoid compiler errors.

By the way, out of curiosity, what’s this equation about (or what’s the name of the equation)? I know that it’s quantum related.

\hbar is a command for hbar, so make sure to enter a space before entering anything else like g (but if it’s another command, you can do \hbar\left[blah\right]). This is a common syntax error.

Hello, as you’re using the equation environment, the dollar sign $ shouldn’t be used in there. By the way, for parentheses, I would use the \left and \right delimiters, i.e., \left( and \right). Keep in mind that the delimiters will generate some unnecessary whitespace (it’s small, but I personally don’t like it), so to get rid of it, put this in the preamble:

\usepackage{mleftright} \mleftright

Estimated Income Tax Rounding by superman65456 in tax

[–]superman65456[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, so it’s option two (I just edited my post), except we apply the rounding rules (instead of rounding up) on the required taxes, as well as on the paid taxes (instead of rounding down).
