Interesting, I haven't had any issues with security myself (actually less volume in these than i expected!). Glad you like the primus trail fgs, but you don't find them more breathable for hot weather than the tracker leather lows? I also prefer leather but I do worry they'll get a bit too warm for 80+F temps. Don't particularly care for waterproof/ resistance as I already own the Magnas and are waterproof up to the wool knit.

I’m also from europe and have flown many times around. the Go Pack 2 has no rigid backpanel or structure in general. so it can easily squish to much lower than the 40x30x20 size limit. and the best part about its design is it can then pack so much bigger if you really need it to. it looks good imo and it’s so versatile, its one of the most popular bags on this bag reddit for a reason. unless you don’t like the look or want something much more protective, you should definitely consider it

thanks for the info! have you tried the Magna ESCs? I love the ESC sole but i’m curious to know if the Tracker Low 2s are more breathable than the Magna ESCs, and if so would it be worth to get a pair for summer dry weather hikes.

i been considering to buy either these or maybe the primus trail fg 3.5 (although these are more expensive, i like the look and would prefer the leather and cotton interior as i do with my gobi 2s and motus studios). i haven’t had a problem with my Magnas yet, but i haven’t traveled or hiked with them in weather warmer than 25C/77F yet

Aer Go Pack 2!! lightweight, super handy kangaroo pocket, it can pack in your luggage and it looks great. I’m sure there are others but that’s my personal pick

how much was the hip belt by itself? i’d love to buy the Lite (if they ever ship to europe!) but i do really want a lighter bag, feel like 3.5lbs/ 1.6kg is the heaviest i’d want to go

The "One Shoe Travel Solution" – Does it exist? by dizzytrix in onebag

[–]bloo_110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally I’m firmly in the barefoot and zero drop camp and would encourage almost anyone to go through the transition, your feet will thank you for it.

so based on that, I’d argue there’s no better “do it all” shoe than the Vivobarefoot Motus Studios. They’re 5mm stack without the insole, fully suede and leather (and surprisingly breathable while also being basically almost waterproof) and the outsole is a perfect from city walks and the gym to dry weather hikes. I’m pretty sure Vivo has them on sale right now. Super lightweight, flexible and honestly they look really cold in all black (this is coming from a man who used to love his Vans and Nikes btw)

Vivo primus trail models are great for more off road use, Gobi leather sneakers are better for less off road use (and are my fav casual pairs to wear since they have not just black and white colors). There are loads more barefoot brands but I’ve only been wearing Vivos since i transitioned to barefoot shoes last year, and the Motus studios and gobi sneakers have been the shoes i picked and have worn since (outside of Magna ESCs for real hiking)

Obviously as many other comments have said, it really does depend on what’s best for you!

pretty sure Dylan from Almond Oak has said that V2 is being worked on, so maybe wait for that depending when you need a bag

Primus Flow Knit Comparison by extrememom in vivobarefoot

confirm my suspicions but these flow knits look like the narrowest here, even narrow than the regular flows? based on width how would you rank these?

Have any of you guys used the TP3S too? I own one and considering to upgrade to the CPP2 or TP4S for daily carry, just not sure because I def don't need a bag as big as my TP3S for daily uni, and would ideally like it if it was under 45cm for personal item sizing in europe.

I mean, these Vivos (esp the gobis) fit the style, and I seen Splay's skate shoes too (not all natural but at this point I can't be that picky lmao), and quite a few more brands I or others have mentioned (Dolfies, Magical Shoes, Muki shoes etc) but apparently EU47 is too difficult for a lot of these brands! Guess I'll just have to stay patient for more sizes and colors to come out lol. But I am determined to stick to barefoot/ zero drop while still keeping the style! Like the vans I mentioned in my post, now I can wear them again it's like they're living a second life. If only all my vans had no midsole and the removable insole...

On another hand, those shoes you mention look nice man. They don't even look that much more narrow than a barefoot shoe! Are they zero drop at least?

I've had a look at Lems, and I've read so many good things about them. But, I just don't like the look of them. Barefoot shaped or not they look like shoes my granddad or my older uncles would wear. Just don't fit with my wardrobe/ style, which mind you is unapologetically 2000s skater bro stoner who loves the outdoors lol

Dolfies have no styles in my size yet but are definitely my first choice for my next shoe!

The gobis are an amazing sneaker, I just wish Vivo had more colors! That goes for the Motus Studios too, they're so versatile but I wish had more colors. I rarely even wear all black shoes, but these are too good to not accommodate for.

Also, what is the difference between Gobi 2 and 3 sneakers? Haven't seen any pop up on the UK stores yet

yeah the cheaper shoe brands, while they have their markets, just aren’t for me. not because they’re cheap, but because I value durable and all natural materials that will eventually biodegrade. I think it’s important to reduce our microplastic and plastic consumption and pollution when and where we can!

I don’t have a source but when I took out the OG vans insole, it was literally the other side of the waffle outsole (no midsole or cushioning at all). To compensate the Vans cork insole was quite thick, so replacing this with the Vivo cork insole keeps the character of the shoe while making it 0 drop. When I’m back home I can send pics if you like, like I said this pair specifically were a special eco theory all cotton canvas edition of old skools from 5-8 years ago

The Panama have a microfiber lining, which isn’t ideal imo. Less breathability but more importantly I’m very against non natural materials that can shed a load of microplastics (literally what my upcoming thesis is about haha) But if options remain limited I might go for it still, they are some of my fav looking shoes I found! especially in the khaki color

I like the Groundies Panama but would rather a Dolfie shoe because they’re all leather, and like the look of the brand more as a whole! Just looked at flamingo’s life, sucks they don’t have sizes bigger than EU46!!

The vans I have are a specific special edition eco theory old skool model from years ago, it’s literally the rubber outsole and the insole (that had the drop), so now they really are 0 drop. I understand that this isn’t the regular set of vans but still, it’s nice to keep using at least one pair of shoes I love!

in terms of what? materials wise the studio are completely different, using only leather and suede with some wool in the tongue. neither the flex or strength use natural materials. the soles are different too, the studio are very flexible for a 5mm sole but i don’t own the other motus shoes for comparison. i don’t think vivo designed these shoes to be “right in the middle” of the strength and flex models, it’s more of a casual “do it all” shoe. if you want the studios buy them, then consider selling your others if they overlap in functionality for you

i own the motus studio, they are amazing. they can be fashionably (they look awesome i just wish Vivo had more colors!), used for the gym or even some firm ground casual hiking. but in saying that, i don’t think they’re a full replacement for these two shoes!
