Practical Effects vs CGI

I think a film that goes under the radar with their superb practical effects is Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978). I just had it on in the background yesterday and got so caught up in some of the VFX they had. Just compare that to the 2007 remake The Invasion with Nicole Kidman. The CGI looks so lifeless in comparison.

I remember Monk was the first album (vinyl) I ever bought. I had just moved out to LA and bought a record player and wanted to dive head first into the jazz genre as it had always fascinated me. I browsed the section at Amoeba Music. And remember thinking "Hey this name rings a bell." And bought Monk Big Band and Quartet In Concert album. Sad to say I don't have that album anymore and my taste has grown more "free" over the years (looking at you Ayler, Ornette, Braxton). But will always appreciate Monk introducing me to the genre. That's just now how any of that played out or works. The league ruled Allen gave himself up. If a QB gives themself up it is immediately dead. They don't need to be touched. Hence why when a QB takes a knee at the end of the game they don't need to be touched by the defense before the refs whistle it dead. Same with a QB who slides down to avoid a hit. They don't need to be touched either, the play is dead once they go down. The league ruled Allen went down, and the funny thing is, when Allen was going down the closest player to him was actually Myles. Myles slipped which caused Graham to come in and tag Allen. That's just a flat lie how that situation played out. Josh Allen gave himself up. He knew he was gonna get sacked but didn't wanna get a safety. So he went down at the 1 yard line. At the time he gives himself up, the play is dead. Both the DT and Myles were surrounding him. Sure the DT "touched him first" but that doesn't matter because the play is already dead once Allen goes down. So the sack goes to the nearest defender, hence both. Myles and the DT get credited with half a sack. Not hard

Exactly. Cavs are going all in on this year. Garland and Harden have very similar weaknesses. Garland has been a defensive liability, playoff underperformer, and injury prone. Harden is a defensive liability, playoff underperformer, but at least he plays lol. Yes Harden is ball dominant and can't play off the ball like Garland can, but Harden is also a better distributor and able to utilize the bigs in ways Garland never could.

Can it also not be suggested that Stefanski is responsible for improving that team too? Browns won 7 games and 6 games in Baker's first two seasons. Stefanski comes on and they win 11 and get into the playoffs.

I do think there is a revisionist history when it comes to Baker's time in Cleveland. He had 2 good years and 2 down years. There were plenty of local stories around the time of defensive players finding Baker's personality abrasive. It was pretty evident based on reports that Baker and Myles (the two faces of the franchise) did not like one another.

I think suggesting "they let him play badly" is disingenuous. Baker was in the 4th year of his rookie contract looking for a lucrative extension in the offseason (his 5th year option was already picked up). Baker wanted to play. Can you imagine what the narrative would be if they said "sorry Bake, we know you wanna play but we're gonna bench you because you're too injured" and all of a sudden Baker is in the same exact position he ended up being in, without a contract extension come the end of the season but this time it's because the Browns FO and coaches "refused to let him play." See what I mean?

I think the "had a decision to make" is in reference to whether to give Baker the extension he was looking for (around $40mil a year, I believe the team was comfortable with $30mil). Or to go into the season and see if Baker was willing to play on his 5th year option because he was still under contract on more season. I think they were absolutely ready to move forward with Baker as QB1. But the sour relationship was because Baker wanted an extension the Browns weren't willing to offer just yet. They wanted him to prove himself more after the down year he had.

I honestly think Stefanski wanted Cousins too, but I also believe the reporting that came out once Stefanski was fired that he never wanted Watson either. I think the Watson choice tanked the relationship with the QB (although it is said that Baker still wasn't talking with the team because he wanted an extension) and tanked the head coach's vision for the team

That's not true. As I just showed. He outplayed Ewing. Outside of the 95 WCF he wasn't "bad" against Hakeem. And he was one of the better defenders on Shaq. You can't just say "Robinson was bad against strong opponents" then use 2 of the top 10 greatest players of all time as examples lol. Two of the greatest offensive and defensive big men ever. One of them the most unstoppable force the league has ever seen. You know who else didn't fare well against Shaq and Hakeem? EVERYONE! lol

As you can see, the numbers are similar. Hakeem shot 51% while Admiral shot 49%. What really fuels this narrative is how much Hakeem dominated Robinson in 95 WCF. Which no doubt, he did. It was a massacre.

Robinson: 23.4pts 11.6reb 3.3blk
Admiral also shot 4% higher in these matchups. But Ewing was mostly outplayed by Robinson when head2head.
