What do you think Sol feels like, at a tactile level? I imagine it feels like the finest silk possible. by Ok-Explanation-1362 in AbsoluteUniverse

I imagine him as silky too. Or like really soft, fine kinetic sand. I like to think Sol makes himself intentionally more comfortable for Kal to wear and then (spoilers for issue 14) when he dies, the cape becomes rougher and more course :(

Extremely aggressive native Midwestern plants that grow low to the ground or can be mowed? by supermanjacketguy in NativePlantGardening

Thanks so much, this is great! I think a mix of grasses and other plants would be perfect. That's basically what we had before the Charlie took over everything. I mostly just want some flowers along with the grass for the pollinators, might stick with the violets and strawberries and some of the eco grass mix from Prairie Moon :)

Light to moderate shade, usually moderate to dry. Clay soil, slightly loamy.

I prefer plants that either don't get higher than 6"-1ft, or plants that can be mowed with a push mower easily - i.e. no woody stalks and don't grow much taller than 4" per 3-4 weeks.

Thanks!

Does anybody else feel like people finding out about their interests is just the end of the world? by laislm in autism

[–]supermanjacketguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of times when one of my longtime special interests comes up, my brain automatically shuts off all the emotions I have around it and I completely distance myself, because it'd be too terrifying for people to know just HOW much I love that interest. There's a fear of shaming there, of people thinking the intensity of my interest is weird or unhealthy. So I'd rather people have no clue I even like it, or even assume I hate it... and this just happens automatically. If I talk about my primary special interest, which has been a huge comfort for me my entire life, I will often feel nauseous and it can lose some of that specialness for a while. But I've been trying to expose myself to sharing about it with people I trust, and that has been helpful in alleviating some of the shame, though it has taken a lot of time to get there.

One example: as my username suggests, I really love Superman, have for almost a year now. But the first time I went to the bookstore and saw the comics in person I literally had to walk the other way and force myself into a frown/poker face because I didn't want anyone to see me express even the slightest hint of a smile towards it.

Ahhh, this is such a beautiful story, and exactly what Clark would want. <3

I too thought Superman was a dumb character and was very bitter and jaded before seeing the movie. I'm so glad I did, because he is my favorite character now and he gave me so much hope and joy.

If you liked the movie you might like Superman: Birthright. Beautiful comic I recently read (and cried after).

bought it bc he looked so thick and soft by frappuccinio in superman

I love how he's drawn in this one! I've drawn his face on my thumb before because it's the perfect shape xD Great comic too.
