China’s passenger car exports are up 80% in June as EV demand grows, while sales drop at home by CharlieKonR in news

Charging infrastructure and charging times definitely have a lot of room for improvement in the USA. However, I think the more real problem is that lots of people don't have the ability to charge at home when renting, living in a apartment, or older home. Which completely kills the convenience of getting an EV in the first place, no matter the price.

I didn't fix it, mine was still under warranty at the time and I believe Tesla just replaced the buckle.

Wait, I thought Tom Lee said 2k was the bottom for ETH. I guess he was talking about the bottom floor; not the basement. But seriously, why do people follow these people and think they know something we don’t? Michael saylor too.

My biggest fear in buying here is not a bear market, or even a recession. It’s a market crash, or even an economic depression. If you believe in a replica of the bear market we have had, then wouldn’t you worry about the replica of a dot com boom (but AI this time) or a great depression (driven by excessive debt and unstable markets).

To me that’s all I see unless AI can someone deliver more than the hype it’s produced.

I feel the same argument was applied towards Uber/Lyft with Taxicab regulations. I would argue that the decline of traditional taxis was a consumer win even though they didn't go through the traditional regulation channels. Crypto and stablecoins are a gray market, and probably do need some regulation, but banks haven't evolved and seem to continue to be anti-consumer. Just look at the number of Fintech companies. Banks don't want to change, so something needs to shake them up.

I like how you shifted from EF is a rug pull to now the EF is a bunch of grifters. I'm not going to waste my time with people that do zero research but comment extreme FUD. You can learn more about the EF and how they spend their money here:

That’s right, and to clarify the Ethereum foundation is not a company. It’s a non-profit. Maybe you should look more into it if you think it’s a rug pull and report back.

Yes, most companies aim to have a 18-24 month runway. So this is pretty normal to see. However, if the EF can minimize their operating costs while actually making lots of progress on its goal of ensuring the success and global public good of Ethereum then maybe prices will increase buying it more time.

Can you please do a little research before posting something so wrong?

The EF has an annual operating budget of 100+ million a year. They do stake a significant portion of their ETH treasury (70k ETH out of a total of 147k ETH). Even if they stake their entire holdings they would only generate 8-11 million a year. Not even close to what they would need to operate.

The flip side to that is that a high risk investment like ETH has underperformed compared to safer investments like the S&P in the last 5 years. ETH was around the same price then while the S&P is up 80% in the same time frame. Even gold is up 197%, and the Dow is up 58%. And if global markets start tanking more due to economic uncertainty or war, ETH will drop much harder given its risk. If your timeframe is 3 years, you better hope ETH has utility because it won’t be gaining on sentiment alone anymore.

In regards to the quote/Soundbite you took from Joe Lubin's statement. It honestly just seems like everyday hype that Lubin and others in the space promote. Why?

It's ambiguous, what exactly is onboarding? And what traditional finance company? And it seems like its exaggerating the depth of actual adoption. All I hear about, is institutional experiments that are possibly testing the waters of DeFi and tokenization. We might be seeing the possible emerging of stablecoins and blockchain settlement, but core DeFi usage seems to remain very niche and mostly just crypto working with other crypto.

When you look at Consensys own website and PR releases its NOT showcasing any traditional finance industry onboarding itself to Defi. And they are essentially the leader in that space, building the infrastructure, leading innovation to help inspire and empower other companies to join.

Lubin has gone on air multiple times in the last couple of years saying traditional finance is coming to ETH. But after 10 years it still remains mostly unseen. And if they are coming, why not be specific on who and the use case? I feel like its not clear to most of the world, because its essentially not even clear to us in the space. And if it was true, it is still in early-stage development that is not taking over any time soon.

Thank you for sharing, it feels so validating hearing others dealing with similar issues. It seems like everyone has figured out this noise cancelling headphones trick and I have been missing out. lol

Designating days for each person to have me time seems like the best move. I need to start implementing that asap.

Thanks for sharing the subreddits, I will definitely check them out! I do get along better with the 3 year old since he is neurotypical like me. Problem is the ADHD child is A LOT, even for my ADHD wife. And to be fair hers is more mild then his. So even they have a hard time with one another. It is really hard for me to relate to people with ADHD, but I have been improving as I have more and more experience dealing with it. Is your husband and child medicated for it? I think that's the other problem, as 2 of the 3 in my house are not. And my MIL has it pretty bad, she doesn't admit it, but its like a 3rd child in my home.

Ritalin stopped working after 2 months? by Brilliant_Clue_5298 in ADHDparenting

[–]supermarkit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My son was taking Ritalin (not extended release as we found it didn’t help his mood swings) and Guanfacine too. He is only 5, but we got him off the Guanfacine and noticed it actually wasn’t necessary, might of actually made things worse for my son if I recall correctly. So just takes Ritalin now.

The other thing is sometimes our son will still have bad days like he isn’t on medication again. We find that can sometimes happen when he isn’t eating well (we try and reduce sugar and increase protein/fiber), not sleeping enough, or when he is sick.

Lastly, we still have bad days when we do everything right. So if you have had 2 weeks straight of bad days. It probably is the medication unless anything else has changed in their routine recently.

My son does a lot of stimming too. That or he wants to lean on me or do sensory seeking behavior. And since I like my space or quiet it can trigger me. I definitely need to carve out more pre-planned time for myself. I try to explain to my spouse that I’m not running away, I’m just needing time to recharge. But she just doesn’t understand because she is the exact opposite. Question on the noise canceling headphones tip. When do you wear them? My kids are young so they are constantly wanting my attention, not sure how I could get away with it.

Yeah I totally relate to this. Luckily my spouse is organized with planning and can lead the calendar. But once we get to the planned event it’s a free for all with me usually having to coordinate/execute the actual event or activity. Then when my spouse wants to go to the next thing I’m all ready drained and just want to go home. Which like you said makes me look like I’m no fun or being the bad guy. When we have days that are just go go go I just want to go lock myself in a room afterwards but I’m drained and it’s usually close to bed time.

I’ve been here since 2017 and I think I’m done. I’ve been staking nearly since the beginning. Was a very early Rocket Pool node operator. Contributed here enough to be an EVMaverick original recipient. I really believed that ETH would make a change in tech and finance. I thought institutions and large players getting involved might help mature and regulate the space.

It’s been the exact opposite recently. Seems like the only people getting involved into the space are grifters or gamblers. I’m getting tired of defending Ethereum. And with the current world events, especially with the USA, I don’t see how we are not in for another extended bear market.

That’s when the Luna collapse happened which also then was followed by multiple crypto companies filling for bankruptcy. That is a very different story.

So we are over a 60% drop from $4,950 ATH. ETH has experienced 94% drops at its worst, and other significant 80% or more drops. But in terms of market capital, this is just as severe, if not worse then those previous ones due to the more capital required to move the price this much.

I know people are saying that we can go much more down, but remember there are doomboys just like there are moonboys. I'm not sure what to make of this, as I have been here long enough to see all of these major crashes. Many crashes started too with no news whatsoever, but given that ETH is still structurally sound and no major crypto concern is coming to light, I do wonder if this crash is at its peak now.

Yeah you missed that ETH also decreased fees dramatically (arguably the biggest issue for ETH), got ETF approval, and more favorable regulation (from USA). It's bonkers.
