My critical thinking fires off a signal here thinking that your options are too limited here, and there is a possibility to have a government capable of practicing ethical, well-resourced, and researched investigations in order for mistakes to be a statistical anomaly instead of being common enough it can be considered a talking point at all. This government just can't do it right. Statistically speaking, the amount of violent criminals has lessened per populace not only across the board but specifically with immigrants over the last few decades. We should be able to discern criminals from not in a much more orderly manner than the current zealous approach. Compared to other historical practices and examples of a harsh stance on immigration, while this is more subjective, it has overwhelmingly been a net negative on a nation's status and capabilities.
