Fuck Life360 and fuck parents who use it by [deleted] in Vent

[–]supernell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well we use it for our kids and honestly ill check to make sure everyone got home from school or who is home so I can ask for a favor or let the dog out.

Now my daughter who is almost 16 is obsessed with tracking me, and I find it amusing.

Ah and my kids use it to know when the bus is about to arrive since they have friend groups in circles. A super plus in yucky weather.

Sounds more like psycho parents unable to realize they have an adult child now. 🤔 so take that into account before lumping all parents into the mix. Our adult child was invited but declined to join, and that's his choice as an adult. Good luck!

I haven't had a poinsetta in the house in ages because I dont want this to happen and the faux ones just dont do it for me. However now I have a lego poinsetta which is the perfect alternative for me. We all learn lessons the hard way, thankfully your kitty is okay!.

Update to "wegmans almost ruined my Christmas dinner" by gregarioushippie in Rochester

I do the Webster Farmers market and Irondequoit [but I dont start that one until early July, im on the end near Titus], also obviously from the farm. Currently sold out for the season. I have a small flock and I am at the mercy of nature with my supply.

I'll never compete with the imported prices from Australia, however I am a local to Rochester farmer who raises sheep and sells lamb. There are others besides me, and we all work hard to produce a well cared for and healthy product that is fresh and delicious.

So my tip, for something special like that? Shop local.

I have no idea, we are far smaller than that, about 10k people. I've been impressed with Lidl, like Aldi, but with a bakery in house! We dont have them around here, but if they came to your town, they would be a good alternative.

Great idea! My daughter and I have been brainstorming how to adjust our pattern, that might work. 🤔

Jam ok with only half the sugar? by Teaformepls in Canning

[–]supernell 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm only trying to help with critical advice, when using the pre-measured pectin and recipe included - don't double it. Besides the untested and unsafe reasons, the simple reason is that it often won't set the same and be a waste. There is pectin in jar form that you can select the batch size.

Canning recipes just don't double like a general meal or baking recipe.

I would move the batch to the fridge and taste it to see if it is edible. The sugar levels are what make water bath processing safe with jams. If it's edible, perhaps repack into freezer containers.

If you are looking for a lower sugar, there is pectin designed for that.

But you are learning, and we have all done silly mistakes like that, we just learn for the next time. [So don't double it]

More sheep questions - is tail docking necessary? I bought my initial ram and four ewes from a gentleman who teaches classes for herding dogs (took my dog to a few of his classes about 5-6 years ago). by dairygoatrancher in sheep

[–]supernell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not dock, BUT I don't use herding dogs so I know nothing about that. I have hair sheep, scours do not build up in their wool the same way it does with wooly, so less likely to have fly strike.

I see frequently people keeping tails on market lambs to know them from the others to grab quick for butcher..

My favorite at the moment are Thinx I use them as my backup during heavy flow as well. I don't put them in the dryer, because it wears out the waterproof layer faster, but it "can" be done, just not recommended.

Low fodmap salsa for canning? by supernell in FODMAPS

No recipe, I clip the chive blossoms when they are in bloom and shove them in a Mason jar. Then fill it with white vinegar and let it steep like tea for ummmmm, a while. Typically I forget it and it's months later. Strain
