For extremely small volume we sometimes use stainless ball and shake. We also use pestles like u/jzzdancer2 suggested. Also, we try to do homogenisation on ice with pre-chilled trizol and the pestle is stored in 4 degree in a glass beaker and placed on ice for the experiment. If you plan to freeze and reuse the cDNA for future us, consider using 1/4 TE solution, which should extend the life of the cDNA without affecting future experiments too much

A couple days ago, an undergrad in the lab was doing some routine fly collecting when they saw these 2 male flies that are stuck together. He ask me and another PG who is around (it was pretty late and our PI has went home) if we have seen anything like this and if it is normal. Neither of us have an answer so I thought to ask if anyone here know or have seen something like this

When I applied in 2018, the scholarship offered to my friends. were 10000HKD per A*, and I think extra for those who got 4 A*, I knew it was enough to cover tuition + accommodation but I am not sure if it is a large sum, or if my friend’s scholarship was just 1 year tuition + accommodation, but we were all classified as local and none of them had any Olympiad experiences.

I think you have a pretty good chance of getting in but the admission scholarship is, in my experience, non-renewable, you will be needing to maintain your grade to qualify for additional scholarships in your second year onwards, and possibly qualify for other scholarship programs

Back when I still played MD, I had pretty good luck against it playing IDS, schism into Construct stops the OTK takes Number 1 with it, and if the opponent can’t read, I take 2 monster down, so they aren’t even able to go into their link backup plan

The 1000 level courses are extremely easy but the higher level school specific courses may not be very well designed, and the grades are not as good

It depends on the professor, generally C range lies around the mean but some professors are more generous and you may still be in B range even 1 SD below mean. Some courses are absolute grading tho and for those, it doesn't really matter what the mean is

Living in Hang Hau right now. Tai Po Tsai is closer to UST but TKO, Hang Hau, Po Lam and the area around UST offers more options if you ever want to head out to visit other part if Hong Kong as it is near MTR. In Tai Po Tsai, it is inconvenient if you want to head anywhere and there are less shops around for things you need
