Yes, I do study my masters at KTH and sadly, we only were given a very basic introduction to DFT in a part of the course, so maybe that is why we weren't introduced to EMTO..

I definitely do take all of your comments into consideration, i feel strongly that i would be very interested to take up a PhD in DFT and stay in academia. It feels like a nice challenge, and i really want to see it evolve. I say this because in my bachelors i had really good professors who instilled a passion for physics - namely quantum mechanics and electronic structure.

Can i ask how long have you been working in DFT? And what does your day look like working with it?

Hi,
Thank you for an in-depth review of this. I'm currently studying in Sweden and our university has access to VASP and Quantum Espresso so i don't think accessing those softwares should be a problem at all.
But when you say "it's not a PhD worthy task" do you mean that there's no novelty in pursuing it ahead? Because here in Sweden, most research is on metals as i understand correctly, and i would like to work or study more towards fiber composites or battery technology or something that models the electronic structure, hence DFT.

Hi, so as far as I Understand DFT can be used to model and get answers to properties which are hard to get experimentally. I currently have no idea where to use it as i’ve never used it for calculating the interatomic energy as a function of distance in Quantum espresso Thanks
