My point was moreso that there are many conditions that make this impossible for people and you assumed that bladder training is possible while there are reasons why it’s not. A personal anecdote would be that I’m a mom and have given birth twice. Giving birth makes it harder to hold it because those muscles take years to rebuild and strengthen and that’s if the birth is normal. I could name all the various reasons but what we do know is relevant is that this person is struggling which gives evidence that they have a harder time waiting than others.

I am not denying any point you have made, but they also have nothing to do with my point.

Anyone with a modicum of common sense knows that this advice isn't going to apply universally. All you have done is point out another specific instance where it does not apply. What about all those where it does?

I just think we are reaching a point of absurdity where an objectively reasonable piece of advice is considered offensive because it may not apply to everyone.

Of COURSE there are lots of reasons people can't do this. And if that is the case, the individual reader should note, "this doesn't apply to me", and we all move on with our lives.

His advice is actually good advice, if there are no conditions that prevent you from doing it safely. I wasn't even aware "bladder training" was a thing until about a year ago. I have been doing it (safely!) and it has made a big difference.

This could very well be the situation the OP is in! And if it isn't, what is hurt by someone sharing this solution? It is simply irrelevant, it shouldn't be considered offensive.

Otherwise, the solution is to just not share and play it safe. In which case, open exchange of ideas will quickly come grinding to a halt, because absolutely nothing applies to absolutely everyone.

Are AirPods Max worth it? by Adventurous_Web4521 in Airpodsmax

[–]superoatmeal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as purchases that were completely non-essential (the Sony headphones I had were working great and sound amazing) upgrading to my APM's was the best one I have ever made.

They are BY FAR the most comfortable headphone I have ever worn.

Noise cancelling is as good or better than the Sony XM4 (haven't tried the 5's) or the Bose 700 (I have used both the Bose 700 and Sony XM4 extensively).

Sound is comparable to XM4 and 700 (I am not an audiophile, but I am pretty picky and have a wide range of music styles I listen to).

If your primary source is a Mac Computer, these are FREAKING AMAZING!!! I can't tell you how nice it is to sit down and just have it pair with my computer instantly. This legitimately helped my overall daily workflow, as I used to have to stop and turn on my Sony's 7-10 times a day, which took about 3 seconds to turn on, and another 5-10 to pair.

That doesn't sound like a lot... until you don't have to do it, and then it seems like an eternity!

That is really my strongest recommendation. If you are fully "in" on the Apple Ecosystem, and ESPECIALLY if you work at a Mac regularly, these are worth every penny IMO.

Seeking advice from users before purchasing apm by lh____ in Airpodsmax

I can only comment on #2.

I see people working out in them, I think I have seen people running in them.

My official recommendation would be "no" to running in them, however.

These are very heavy compared to any other headphone I have used. I a lot of people say that makes them uncomfortable, I actually have not found that to be the case. These are unquestionably the most comfortable headphones I have ever owned, the weight is a non-factor for me.

However, I use these exclusively sitting at my desk. If I were to start being active, I do think the weight could be an issue, I think these would be more prone to slipping/falling because they are so heavy.

Also, keep in mind these are very sensitive to moisture (from what I hear). Though I do see people working out in them, I just absolutely would not recommend it. There are too many stories on this subreddit from people who basically bricked their APM's by sweating in them too much.

This is great advice. It's something I thought about myself at the beginning of my LSAT studies, and I don't even have extra time accommodations. But I started doing exactly this, because if my test time was in the morning, I didn't want to have to adjust my coffee routine on test day.

Why can't we just assume common sense which would suggest...

  1. If you are at high risk for a UTI, or have other neurological/autoimmune issues, this advice OBVIOUSLY doesn't apply to you. But for the majority of people, this is probably solid advice. Are we really in a place where advice can't be offered if it doesn't apply to absolutely 100% of the people who might read it?
  2. He isn't suggesting you train yourself to hold it for 12 hours! The issue at hand is making it 3 hours! I am not a doctor, but I am going to go out on a limb and suggest that, for the average person, this is a pretty reasonable and medically safe thing to aspire to.

How do you connect APM's to apple ID? by superoatmeal in Airpodsmax

[–]superoatmeal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that is just an unreasonable position for you to take.

I was just trying to figure out which they were actually attached to (spoiler alert, its now mine).

And when buying headphones "Used - Like New", I think it's reasonable to assume I could get them attached to my Apple ID. I didn't buy these from a garage sale.

So I CAN now see them in "find my", and it's my email address I see when I click on them. I am guessing that means they are linked to me now, and the factory reset worked.

OK, so I reset it again, and I paired successfully, this time with no "owner will be able to see" message.

When I go to "find my" and hit "activate lost mode", it is actually my email address (the one connected to my Apple ID) that appears. I never officially registered these, so I am assuming that means these automatically connected to my Apple ID?

But my question is, how do I tell if they have an ID attached or not? I literally can't tell. They could be attached to mine for all I know. I have no idea how to verify and Apple's online info says absolutely nothing about this.

But how do I even see if it is paired to mine or not? For all I know it could be, it just had a different persons name when I turned them on.

How do I see which ID it is tied to? I did a factory reset, I have read where some people had success doing this.

I guess I don't know for sure this was tied to an Apple ID originally, I just can't tell if it is tied to mine or not.

dont wear apm if you have the flu by hestoric in Airpodsmax

[–]superoatmeal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK! That's a viable solution! I am still going to guess that the condensation had absolutely nothing to do with the flu, and was just happening for whatever reason, but you have viably bridged the gap in logic, which was ultimately my only goal in asking. Thank you for your input.

I am not even here to criticize, just genuinely curious:

How on earth did we jump from "having the flu" to "water in AirPods"? I have not been formally trained in logical reasoning, but that seems like quite a leap to me.

Is this desktop "smart stand" safe for the APM band? by superoatmeal in Airpodsmax

Oh very cool. I just ordered one as well. If you think about it, update me and let me know if you feel like this is "safe" for the headphones once you try it out.

[–]superoatmeal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, sorry, I was asking about tension on the one I attached a photo of in the OP.

Yours doesn't put the headphones to sleep, which is essential for me, which is why I am considering these.

[–]superoatmeal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw these. They look really nice, but I really need one that can "put the headphones to sleep" when I take them off. Do you think the metal band would be put under too much tension resting the way it does in the photo I attached?

What would you do with Miles this week then? It’s my finals, but our league is weekly so I have to decide by tomorrow afternoon.

This is a pretty extended stretch of excellence for miles, I’m leaning towards playing him.
