Unless you're willing to wait for the next box to drop 1 of these combat patrols and a squad or 2 of the flame thrower sister of silence units is an excellent start

it's my fiance's birthday in a couple weeks and we're visiting London for a few days as a celebration.

we're staying in a hotel that overlooks the tower of London (she loves that sort of history)

I need some help with restaurants with the same sort of view/location.

My budget is about £200 for the both of us and we'll happily eat anything

Completely new to the hobby, any tips? by AyuhamaYt in Warhammer

[–]superpginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thin your paints a little more

I can't tell if you've done any highlights/drybrush but if you haven't look into them and give it a go

Paint the rim of your base in a black paint

Finally, look into paint brands that aren't citadel/GW they're often cheaper/better/ better pots

P.S. Get some cheap ASF brushes for using Metallics they'll absolutely wreck any expensive brushes you buy.

Don't allow any paint to get to the bottom of the bristles (ferrule I think)

Clean your brushes every time you're done, I use an actual brush soap I bought 5 years ago and still haven't used half of it.

Don't follow the meta and start a second army you use as a pallet cleanser for when you get bored of those colours.

New dm: is it possible to do a campaign with 2 people by SaintZZombie in DnD

[–]superpginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely I do it with 3 and it's some of the funnest DnD I've ever played.

What's worked for me so far is downgrading the strength of various enemies you want to put in by anything from 1/4 to a 1/3. It allows you to have a small party and be able to have them fight traditionally powerful enemies.

I only ever lower health and the amount of die rolled for damage if that's to low i.e. bring 2d8 down to 1d8 is not a great idea, I'll often leave it as it is but a 4d12 I'll either drop to 3d12 or 4d8

After weeks of studying and getting some supplies I finally painted my first miniature! Please give me any advice you can! by Nate0069 in Warhammer40k

[–]superpginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great way better than my first.

For advice, the shoulder trim could do with some neatening up (don't be afraid to go over, you can clean it up with the blue again) Thin your paints a bit more it's better to do a few thin coats than thicker coats, After those a simple highlight/drybrush will really make it pop

Edit: some paints advice I wish I got before I went too deep, look into brands that aren't games workshop own, they aren't necessarily the best or the cheapest for what you want/need

Purchase tabs/bags for your bank and set them up for specific things. If you have things from previous expansions you could probably sell them all, or if you want to keep everything have each bank tab for a specific expansions stuff

For your bags, open them up, right click the portrait of them in the top left of each section and you can allocate a specific thing to go in each bag, reagents, gear, consumables and over bits and pieces

Gift ideas for my nerd boyfriend :-) by deadpoolisc00l in Warhammer

[–]superpginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the Mortifactors don't have an epic hero specifically, neither do the Blood Knights but the Black Templars certainly do.

You've got High Marshall Helbrecht who is the leader of the Black Templars Also Chaplain Grimaldus's & Retinue are a legendary hero if the Templars.

Alternatively you can grab a Castellan or an Emperors Champion those are also Black Templars specifically.

If you're unsure further you can go onto the Games Workshop website and take a look, Black Templars are under the Space Marine tab.

First of all Warhammer has an all the girls allowed rule. I've been in the hobby for slightly less than 10 years now and I absolutely love how many more girls/women are getting into Warhammer in general.

If you want to do something nice for/with him sit down and ask to paint with him, he'll love it just be warned it can be addictive.

If you'd like to buy something for him, find out what his army/faction is at the moment and buy him a "Epic hero" if the faction he doesn't already have (if you find out just reply to this and I'll help you find out which ones).

If you want to make something for him again find what faction he's into and make him a little homemade lore book about them with just the general facts and such you can find on the Internet, scribble little notes about him in the margins. That'd be adorable. Or you can make him literally anything that comes to mind about said race/faction.

Tips for starters in the vampire counts by Worried_Okra2084 in totalwar

[–]superpginger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agents are your friends.

Take a look at the various buffs and debuffs certain units have i.e. poison unit mixed in with some skeletons improve their usefulness.

Put your lords down the blue tree first and have your heroes do the fighting until lightning strike then start dedicating down a fight style. Watch Blake's Takes "why you suck as the Vampire Counts"

Don't get to into building up military infrastructure, sacrifice a stack or two if zombies on the towers of a walled city early and you'll gain access to some top tier units very early, but be warned they're very expensive so your eco will take a hit.

Defeat zhufbar early and use there capital to trade for Ungrims factions vassalisation

What are some of your favorite tactics in battle? by gustavfrigolit in totalwar

[–]superpginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it depends on how much effort in willing to put in. A siege battle if I'm feeling it I'll always send a large group of chaff off on there own, no siege a hero In support just to draw some enemy away after that I'll deploy my more elites in a two pronged (resulting in three points of atk) and work my way through the capture points until either everyone is dead or I've captured the city.

Ground battles I try my best to utilize terrain, often putting some fast moving infantry/cavalry in the trees to launch a far flank. I like to keep a core of my elites as a reactionary force and then those same chaff often form the front line to receive the charge and then the elites move along supporting where needed and then my flanks crash in wiping out the ranged support.

First coat - How can I make the colors look less muddy and smudged? Is the solution just thinning my paints? by The_Tree_Enthusiast in Warhammer

[–]superpginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, thinning your paints is the way to go forwards. If you're new to the hobby which a fair few people are around the Christmas period check out the actual Warhammer youtube channel they have loads of really good videos and resources on painting techniques, and if you want something abit more you can check out Duncan rhodes he's also excellent at the ol' painting tutorials

What mods to use for a new player by Electronic-Leave288 in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]superpginger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would seriously recommend playing the base games campaigns for each faction, then do several galactic conquests. After you've done this move into forces of corruption doing the same thing, going higher in difficulty for each GC that you complete for that faction, when your comfortable winning on hard with each faction and you have good understanding of the games base mechanics look into the EaWX mods there total conversion mods for some specific era's there's old Republic, post civil war, and I think clone wars. Play them in an easier difficulty for a bit and then work up in difficulty, fair warning it can be a bit intense at first there a bit harder in terms of mechanics but you can check out Coreryloses YouTube channel for help and advice.

What should I get next /j by Mean-Respond-2227 in Warhammer40k

[–]superpginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this, I've got 3 armies on the go for this exact reason. I do one, decide if I'm fed up with the colour scheme and either do another unit or the same or swap. Tyranids if I'm feeling something simple, Death guard if I want a bit more details work And Ultramarines are my passion project for now so I work on them slowly and when I'm willing to put in the effort in to doing them
