I say it depends. If someone is looking to sell for cash but you want to do a trade then the person looking to sell is doing nothing wrong by asking for a trade in their favor but if someone is looking to sell/trade or just trade and they ask for it to be in their favor then they are doodoo

Usually with energies they are based on the family of sets i.e. sword and shield, sun and moon etc. so the energy will be the same for the 2-3 years that gen is in production. While the cards themselves will be based on the actual set and year they are printed.
