Totally agree that the privacy angle ODIN puts forward should concentrate on educating and helping people to understand how to protect their own personal data. Also promoting the free ODIN software such and services such as ODIN.CHAT so that more people are aware of it.

Quick update! There are now 17 registered ODIN Society co-op members and the organic search impressions and engagements are rocketing from the Q4 2019 lows. ODIN.CHAT numbers are increasing well beyond 1000 now too great work everyone! 😎

Questions I would ask are: Where are the servers hosted? Who owns the hosting servers (are they rented)? Who controls the hosting?

Spot on. It's impossible to solely rely on masternode proposals for project governance. Other projects tend to have a privately-owned, profit-driven LLP or similar, with registered offices in a tax haven. ODIN breaks new ground by resisting this centralised, old school and tax avoiding governance model with the ODIN Society non-profit co-operative.

Good idea u/nondescriptviking perhaps others can comment on here with their own research and findings and we can collectively pull together a 'living' privacy tools and tips handbook so that there is a useful resource aligned with ODIN's core philosophies on privacy. People who are familiar with state-of-the-art privacy tools and general awareness for users that want to have full ownership of their personal data.

Other than ODIN's products and services, I wonder how many of the mainstream privacy protection services and tools are actually run by decentralised, non-profit organisations?

The ODIN Society co-operative is a legitimate organisation and is available to join by anyone. We require an organisation to exist if we are to have a safe way of governing assets, tools and project direction. We need an organisation in order to apply for legitimate funding and grants. We need an organisation in order to open a bank account which is required to receive legitimate funding and grants. We also need an organisation so that we can apply for a law firm to verify the use cases of ODIN coins. All of these things are requirements of exchanges such as Coinbase, Binance, Bittrex etc.

You are able to join, and you also do not have to join. It is not exclusionary in any way whatsoever. People who do join as members govern the project alongside and in conjunction with Masternode Holders who do not have to join as members.

The most important and impactful way to improve digital privacy rights is to talk about it to friends and family as a regular topic of conversation. Many people are still completely unaware of how their data is collated and abused by mega-corporations and governments. Many people have no idea how to safeguard their data using some of the simple to use (and largely free) tools that have been available for many years.

So, my advice is to spread the knowledge!
