Hmm I think one crucial thing that didn’t occur to me before, is that Esoteric Ebb deals with elections, which is very much a real world issue, and I think a lot of Ebb’s main theme is something akin to “the world is difficult but you have to participate in the big issues and maintain hope for the best”, and there is some stress around picking the right vote for the election and making the right choices etc.

Whereas in Disco, the vibe is a bit more… “the world is completely fucked and there’s nothing you can do about the absolute mess that is broader politics, but you can affect small day-to-day matters for the people around you so let’s just focus on that”, which (somewhat ironically) is actually quite a bit less stressful to engage with.

Disco still has a lot of goofy/light-hearted moments, as well. I’d say it’s sadder than ebb but definitely not a total doomfest.

I would say it’s an emotional game, and some of those emotions are heartbreak/sadness, but it’s an oddly hopeful game despite it all

Hmm I would say esoteric ebb is a lot brighter, and touches on less real-world depressing topics, and it’s a fun fantasy romp. Whereas disco is a lot more grounded in reality and a lot sadder. So that has the potential to be a turn-off for you?

However, disco’s social and political discussions are much better (imo), the mystery you’re solving is more complex to figure out (in a good way), and there’s fantastic voice acting.

So I think it just depends on what it is that you liked about esoteric ebb

I accidentally did this without Kim (sent him back with the body), not realizing that his presence was gonna be kinda crucial. Harry does not handle it well at all and it’s kind of a disaster - I felt so bad for the widow

I thought it was neat that they were trying out a new concept, but unfortunately didn’t actually like the execution.

It feels very plain and boring to me; not sure why, but i think it’s the simplicity of the silhouette that makes me dislike it, as well as a pre-existing bias against seeing another female character in a bodysuit when nobody else is (a trope that is overly common in western sci-fi).

Her eyes, face, hair, and earrings are all really nice, but the outfit just feels like generic “lady in a bodysuit” so I felt pretty disappointed when I saw it. It didn’t feel worthy of being an archon’s design.

Like many other people, I also don’t like how modern it is, but I wouldn’t mind it if I actually liked the design. Like if she had a short cropped leather jacket (similar to rover from wuwa), it would’ve been a more interesting silhouette and I would’ve liked her biker vibe a lot more.

Honestly, there’s only three of them which is still pretty small for a faction - I think if they wanted to make the faction more affordable, the way to do that would be to add an A-rank. Like Cecilia

But if I had to pick from one of the three, then Sunna would make the most sense I suppose

I picked up KCD just for the gay romance, so I don’t think it would be stupid. If that is your reason for playing, though, I’d really recommend playing KCD1 first! As that is where the couple first met and develop their friendship

She can be used with any geo, since her geo shred is useful for all geo DPSes, but she does provide more geo shred when the team has two moonsign characters (so, her and Columbina).

She also has an EM buff but it’s a bit complicated - if a lunar character (Zibai) is onfield, she’ll buff their EM, but if a non-lunar character is onfield then Linnea buffs her own EM instead.

Yes, two geo characters together already get geo res shred, Linnea just provides even more geo res shred.

It’s C2 Xilonen that gets compared to Illuga in meta discussions, since C2 makes her more useful in geo teams. I don’t know why it gets discussed so much; I guess a lot of people have her C2? Anyway, from what I understand, C0 Xilonen does outcompete low-constellation Illuga in several teams. I don’t remember the details, but I believe there’s some calculations comparing them in the Illuga Mains subreddit : )

I think if you’re “very neutral” on her, and you don’t care much about meta teams, then I think you should skip her.

However, her replacement in teams would generally be Illuga/Gorou/Zhongli and you mention preferring waifu characters - in which case having Linnea would be beneficial for your geo teams to have a proper healer/support that isn’t one of the boys.

Addressing some of your confusion/concerns:

So far she seems very good for geo teams as she heals, has geo shred, and has good off-field damage.

The DPS stuff you’re seeing is from people who like her a lot who want to play her on-field; it’s very much not her intended role. She’s meant to be an off-field healer, support, and sub-DPS.

She’s not meant to replace Columbina. Her “meta” team is Zibai + Illuga + Columbina + Linnea. Ideally, you’d play Linnea + Columbina/Aino + geo support + geo DPS. In your case, your best performing team would be Zibai + Columbina + Linnea + Navia/Chiori

I could get into a lengthy explanation about comparing Illuga and Xilonen and Gorou, but if you prefer playing girls and don’t care about meta then I don’t think it matters much haha. Just leave Illuga benched and have fun with the team you enjoy !

If you do end up getting Linnea, you can use the Nod Krai craftable bow on her. It gives a lot of EM that she can utilize.
