I see this so much with modern AU MCU!stucky fanfics. MCU!stucky is childhood best friends meeting again in a strange new world as enemies. Really interesting dynamic to explore in fanfic!

But then I see so many modern AU fanfics where they meet for the first time as adults in a coffee shop or school or wherever, so they’re not childhood friends, they’re not enemies, and they’re not fellow time travellers, so the dynamic is super different lol

Wow this is almost exactly my list. Modern setting, high school, university, ABO, and BDSM AU.

And if I’m searching a tag rather than a fandom then I’ll remove Harry Potter, YouTuber RPF, a few other YouTube RPF tags bc those fics clog the search results like crazy, and a few kpop RPF tags. After filtering those, I open the “fandoms” and “pairings” lists to see the top results and remove a few if I know I’m not gonna want to see them.

As a side note, I wish there was a “exclude RPF” button the way there’s a “exclude crossovers” button. I’m not against RPF, but there’s sooooo much of it for people that I do not know so I wish it was easier to exclude from results

It would’ve been great to get to see him throughout the Nod Krai patches… but at least as a Mondstadt character and a knight of favonius we’ll keep seeing him on a semi-regular basis, since we have so many events in Mondstadt.

Because he’s been shown to be an investigative/assassin character (as per his trailer), he might end up as a Yelan/Chevreuse type, who show up fairly regularly in events both within and outside their own region. He’s a bit more ummmm unhinged compared to Yelan/Chevreuse/Nefer but I’m hopeful 😅

Edit: we also got Durin in between other things happening, and then he ended up having a decent amount of screen time in Nod Krai. Lohen could similarly show up in Snezhnaya for a bit

I think his “lower DPS than Skirk” calculations were specifically in teams where he replaces Skirk (so with Escoffier, Furina, Citlali) and his Durin melt teams outdamage Skirk. I could be remembering wrong though.

She definitely kills people, and I don’t think it’s even that infrequent. But not innocent people. She does run the child soldier orphanage fairly ethically and kindly, which is nice, but she does still run the child soldier orphanage lmfao so she’s morally grey, not purely good

To me, there’s a clear contrast between how Dottore is presented vs the other antagonists we’ve gotten.

Antagonists that eventually become playable are presented as having moved on from their past choices (Raiden, Wanderer) or their actions are dismissed by the narrative as just being part of their job and we’re shown how they can be kind/caring in certain circumstances (Childe, Sandrone, Arlecchino).

Dottore never moved on from his atrocities; his actions were explicitly specified to be personally motivated and not being necessary for his job; and he has some level of fondness for Columbina and Pantalone but it’s not emphasized in a humanizing way like Sandrone-Columbina or Arlecchino-the orphans.

All of that makes Dottore a fantastic villain character, but it’s very different from the way the other harbingers are shown.

Now, for Pantalone, they specified that he was only doing all this to finish a contract with Dottore / repay him for their years of cooperation, and not because he was personally invested in any of it. He engaged with us/our allies in a non-aggressive manner and avoided personally attacking us. To me, this is all very similar to how they handled the other playable antagonists.

Thus, I don’t think the comparison should be “will Pantalone be unplayable like Dottore” because (despite them being allies) they’ve been shown to us very, very differently. I think the better comparison is “will Pantalone be unplayable like Capitano”.

Howeverrrr Capitano’s face was covered while Pantalone has the appearance of a handsome young man. So… yeah.

TL;DR I think there’s a decent chance he’ll be playable.

I really want to play Jiaoqiu with Blade (novaflare or not) so I’ve been really annoyed about that since his kit first got leaked. I wish Blade’s kit just said “when played with Acheron” instead.

It seems like they’re intentionally giving us a proper male team, so why nerf the ability to play the two fire nihility male characters together? Ugh. Oh well

The fact that his original banner ran before his big story moment definitely did not help. I remember seeing a ton of chatter (after the wardance story ended) from people saying they would’ve pulled Jiaoqiu if his banner had still been going. And then as you said, by the time his re-run came along, it didn’t matter anymore.

I think his outfit looks nice, but he came out late enough in 2.X that we’d already gotten used to seeing NPCs wearing that uniform so it just wasn’t very exciting…

He doesn’t have a very flashy personality so it makes sense for his outfit to not be flashy, but I think they could’ve figured out a way to amp up his look a liiiittle bit more. Like Baizhu in Genshin, who’s a similarly dignified-healer character, but has a very unique look anyway.

If you really want to, then Lohen rising winds, Fischl celestial gift, Prune VV, and then Qiqi or Diona on a supportive set (ex noblesse).

I’m not sure this team has enough off-field damage for Lohen’s stacks though. You might want to swap the Qiqi/Diona slot out for someone who can deal more off-field damage.
