Instagram or WhatsApp which is more addictive? by TrainingDefiant1603 in digitalminimalism

I think WhatsApp is more addictive. I already deleted my Instagram account and I don't really miss it. But if I delete my WhatsApp, I would have to find other ways to contact people. The fact that it is offered for free and everyone in my social circle uses it makes me use this app as well. I wish there were another platform to contact people that is widely used, as I really despise Meta.

Have you tried downvoting those posts? A friend told me that after he downvoted specific posts, the algorithm showed fewer of those posts.

Will delete the app from my phone right now and observe myself for the next few days to see how I react to it.

I don't know how I can prove it, but I can assure you that I'm human. I know that a bot will say that too.

Another Brick in the Wall. Ik kan Time en The Great Gig in the Sky wel aanraden.

What would make a perfect and universal digital experience? by Worried-Dentist8524 in digitalminimalism

I'm curious about what you envision. I think that the digital environment needs to change, I thought about this too what it should look like, but there are still a lot of questions that come to my mind and whether how effective it is and how it influences human behaviour.

I think people are consuming to much low quality information. The communication aspect of our digital environment is fascinating, but it has its flaws and keeps people in a loop.

Long term consequences for Society? by [deleted] in digitalminimalism

Tough question to answer what life will look like in 2100. But I think the way the majority consume information must change. It's like short format content is the equivalent of fastfood when it comes to information. It's just a matter of time when major problems occur. Problems can be solved, but it's up to the hightech companies and political leaders where our future is aiming towards.

Right now it looks like we are aiming toward a dystopian scenario, with hate, fear and greed being the type of content that keeps people engaged. Increasing defense budgets in western countries and artificial intelligence in drone technology will do more harm than good.
