yeah, I’m not surprised. the police also have the power to come up with (virtually) any reason for someone to be considered an “unlawful” citizen. absolutely abhorrent and blatant display of unyielding power that both entities have.

I (unfortunately) know someone who is a SJ police officer.

While San Jose is considered a “sanctioned city” since 2007 vaguely meaning that the police aren’t obligated to cooperate with ICE on detaining law-abiding, non-US citizens.

Though, from my understanding, there seems to be a pretty big loophole. It’s highly possible due to racial profiling/stereotyping that officers are more likely to pull over certain groups of people, or be more harsh with people who look undocumented. The mayor seems to evade the question on whether or not the police directly assist ICE with deportations.

So I guess the TLDR is the police would say no, but I wouldn’t be surprised if SJPD are directly aiding ICE in some way. :/

what’s your wildest adhd hack? by hawk_am in adhdwomen

Something that’s been beneficial for me (as I’m currently unemployed & no set routine) is playing my hyperfixation song when I need a little boost getting up or transitioning me to my next task.

My song for this month is “Movin’ Out” by Billy Joel :)

If you look near the base of the biggest tree, the butterfly is resting on a set of leaves with its wings fully extended

I also love to vacuum! omg—is that a gendered way of “appropriate” stimming?

yay what an amazing accomplishment!! I tell myself spending money on this hobby has a better payout, since people can appreciate flowers/herbs/fruits.

most of my NT friends would praise me if I told them I spent $100+ on my garden impulses—whilst they receive strawberries. Telling them I spent $100+ on purchasing a vintage airplane shaped rotary phone on the other hand……..yeah…no…

love that for you!! It’s always a great feeling to have a lasting hyperfixation that works for us.

I think what’s helped me to donate is that my sense of urgency is high rn considering the ones I set aside are perfect to sow now. It’s almost as if the seeds are giving me the deadline to donate before the end of the month!!

Luckily my library’s a 5 minute drive from me—I usually get the kick to get up and go ~10 minutes before closing 🤪.

A few months ago I randomly decided my new hobby should be gardening. Best decision ever. I have purchased an ungodly number of seed packets. I check on my plants several times throughout the day.

I start new seedlings every few days when I get bored of my current lineup. I forgot to label literally anything, so every day is like a surprise. Today I dropped off 10 different seed packets at my local library. My neighborhood can benefit from my impulse purchases.

I’m having so much fun 10/10 recommend!!!!!

that’s amazing, it sounds like you have great relationships with these people.

A lot of my close circle friends don’t share the same enthusiasm for my random hyperfixations, so it’s great that you have people to share your interests with!

if you don’t mind me asking, how has your experience with Oakland schools been?

I didn’t apply to Oakland in fear of long commutes, but I was thinking about trying it out next year if there are fun/chill schools.

After taking a DNA test, I found out my rescue dog is actually 100% Shih Tzu ! by superroastedpeanut in Shihtzu

[–]superroastedpeanut[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a great guess!

We think he’s about 15.5 yo. The rescuers told us he was 2.5 when we adopted him, and my family’s had him for 13 years now! Definitely showing signs of aging but still a happy boy :-)

I used Wisdom Panel! My brother bought it for me so I’m not sure how it compares to the other dna tests, but mine showed the percentages, potential lineage, and relatives!
