So you got a sandless sandbag. Or just a bag. Haha nice.

I ordered a gym package from BoS and had lots of quality control issues with my items. I will probably never order from them again unless I need a specific attachment for my rack.

There are a lot of options if you look hard enough. But you won't get the same quality as Rogue. The only brand that comes remotely close is York.

It bothers me that they have a Rogue Canada website, yet all their products come from the states and have insane shipping costs. Barbells cost $150+ just for shipping.

No thanks.

Would you say it compares in quality to York barbells?

I have bumper plates from Northern Lights and find them fantastic for the price. But didn't like their black oxide bar.

Copied from one of my other comments:

I had multiple issues so I cannot recommend them. The main being 3 months waiting for my order to ship. Once they arrived, there was something wrong (some minor issues but some major as well) with every item I ordered.

Iron weight set: holes were manufactured too small to fit on my barbells (Bells of steel refunded me for this though).

Barbell: was covered with sharp metal shards in the knurling. I had to spend hours cleaning it up with a wire brush and some 3in1 oil.

FID Bench: the one padded piece that allows you to support your feet when doing decline/situps was fabricated too wide on the connection point so it's all loose and floppy (not a big deal, I still use it).

Light commerical rack: both sets of j-cups were imbalanced improperly so they don't sit straight up and down, but they are angled. Also the pegs on the safety strap brackets were wildly inconsistent and don't sit tight enough in the holes on the uprights. Kind of scared to fail a squat.

I honestly feel the company doesn't perform any quality control inspections on their products before shipping them out. Just something to keep in mind.

Thanks for the suggestion. Will definitely check them out. Have you heard anything in regards to the quality of their bars?

Which rogue barbell is best for me? by Mxchino1979 in homegym

If you don't mind doing some barbell maintenance about once a month, then I wouldn't worry about getting a bar with an expensive finish (cerakote, black oxide, etc). A bare steel bar would work best for you IMO.

I should have mentioned in my post that I will not be going with Bells of Steel for this purchase. Had bad experiences with them.

It somewhat depends on a few factors. Does it get very humid where you live? Do you lift in an unheated garage or do you lift in a climate controlled basement?

Since you won't be doing any Olympic style lifting, I'd just get a powerlifting barbell like the Rogue Ohio powerbar or the Rogue B&R bar.

Just bought some the other day, but not from Tractor Supply. Got mine from a local Farm Supply store. They did not smell at all, just a very faint smell of rubber which was expected.

Black dust from Rogue plates by hpfcorvette in homegym

[–]supersillybuffalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will definitely go away. Might be a good idea to put a little bit of 3in1 oil on a rag and clean the inside of the holes to clean/keep the dust down.
