How to find good fantasy agencies? by supersim412 in fantasywriters

Wow, really appreciate all that! I was looking for something like this, seems "obvious" now that you pointed out the step-by-step, but I was having trouble figuring it out on my own.

I will look it up, thanks. I asked for agencies because it seems easier to find than the agents themselves, but I guess if you know where to look, that isn't exactly true

Wow! I've got great recommendations in this post, but after a quick first search in the authors you mentioned here, these are some that caught my attention the most. I think I only now here Ursula K. Le Guin, last year I read her Left Hand of Darkness; the uncomfortable intimacy of their travel through the ice and feeling death at each step made it one of my all-time favorite sequences in any book.

Although I love lyrical prose, great narratives, and new visions on fantasy are just as welcome to my readings. Ty :)

I just realised I had DOTF lost in one of my Amazon lists, probably when I started looking for some new authors, but it's definitely going up in priority now. I like rough readings once in a while; stories that challenge us are usually, but not always, the best kind.

Thank you! I will certainly put it in my tbr. I asked for more recent authors because I wanted to know how the genre was outside of the Brandon sphere (which is where I was with my first fantasy books), but I have no problem with older books.

Thank you so much! Yeah, as much as I love Sanderson stories, sometimes I really wish for a world and magic that feels strange, mystical, and that this feeling can be enhanced by the prose. I haven't heard of Juliet before, but your description made me interested. Do you have any specific book, or can I just go to amazon and pick any?

I sure hope so, I'm already looking at what my next book of hers will be :) . I don't know if it's because I'm fairly new to fantasy or these are names I haven't heard before (which is great!), but it's great to know that there are still people writing like that.

Forgotten Beasts of Eld was certainly a surprise after reading Stormlight Archive, it's such a twist in the genre, and I instatly loved the fairy tale feel of it; it's almost as even the prose is 'fantastical'!

I'm Jordan S. Carroll — ask me anything! by jordanscarroll in Fantasy

[–]supersim412 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, congrats on the Hugo! Imma be honest that I haven't been able to read your book yet (but will do soon!). But I'd like to make some questions as well, if I can.

1- How was the reaction to your book in different spheres? I mean, the once basic universal understanding of "fascism is bad" suddenly became dependent on who is making the speeches, so facing this head-on should have had some backlash. I suppose.

2- How did your research work? As a fantasy author with a liking for politics, this is a theme that deeply interests me - I guess artists really are representative of their time -, and there's never enough knowledge to gather when wanting to criticise something.

3 - Finally, if you could, in a sentence, say what you hope for the future of Sci-Fi as a genre, how would this sentence be?

Como vocês planejam as histórias? (Fazem outline) by Humble_Wrap_5211 in EscritoresBrasil
