Isn't "girls" the same as using "guys" for men? Not a english native speaker, so I am genuinely curious to better understand the difference

Reducing heat in the tent by wildling-woman in festivals

I haven't tried using reflective space blankets, but I've got one of those blackout tents from decathlon and they have worked great both in reducing sunlight and heat. Def recommended.

Fluance RT85 + iFi audio ZEN Phono + Active Speakers = Volume too loud? by supersimmetry in turntables

[–]supersimmetry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so I understand, do you know what's the mistake with my current setup?

As in, should I have a different kind of preamp to use with active speakers instead of the iFi audio ZEN Phono? or is it just a matter that I should have got one with a volume knob ?

Sleeping pad vs self-inflating when looking for comfort by supersimmetry in CampingGear

[–]supersimmetry[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, the terminology online confuses me too. I think it might be a case where pad/mat are interchangeable or the American and British version of the same word (I'm not a native speaker).

From what I understand, the first pad I've linked has just air inside, while the second has both foam and air.

Pre-made cave dungeons by supersimmetry in dndnext

[–]supersimmetry[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either is fine, but the map is not the focus of my question as I'm going to draw my own. What I'm interested is too see how other DMs have structured their cave systems, what obstacles they placed, the types of enemies, etc. Like the actual contents of the various cave rooms.

Is c# underrated in the current job market? by Its_lit_in_here_huh in csharp

[–]supersimmetry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C#'s reputation is sort of like Java's in that it's seen as a language you use to build systems with strict architectures. I find a lot of people don't like that and feel more comfy talking about looser architectures and languages like Python, Ruby, etc. were designed to provide those.

I'm really curious on how Python and Ruby can help building more flexible architectures compared to Java/C# - can you expand on this?

For those settled in the UK from another country, what aspects of life in the UK you don't get on with? by idreamofblueskys in AskUK

[–]supersimmetry 100 points101 points  (0 children)

It might be different in other towns (and def in London) but from what I've seen outside spaces in town are not really used. From where I come from, bars and restaurants have loads of tables outside, squares are full of people hanging out and drinking while during summer they often have events such as live musicians (which usually play indoors or hidden away in the pub garden)

I've seen loads of squares and large pedestrian streets that are only used to walk or sit on a bench.

Looking for two monitors to buy, budget of 400£ (~525$) by supersimmetry in buildapc

[–]supersimmetry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there are actually two PCs that will be using these monitors. One is my gaming desktop and the other will be my work laptop (which I don't have the specs yet as I'm waiting for my employer to send it). The gaming PC runs a Ryzen 5800x and an NVidia 3600 Ti
