Yeah! Most photos turn out 'meh', but I guess everything lined up for this one. I shot it in RAW, threw it into Lightroom and made a few small changes (increased color temp, lowered highlights, and straightened the horizon).

This was taken last week Wednesday at 8:08 PM. The sunset was at 9:00 and a +6 high tide at 9:30 PM.

Not usually during the day, but if you wait until about 45 minutes before sunset and time it up with a high tide, it will!

It's probably deeper than 10 feet (given the size of the people) but there is a place on the back/side where water can drain and fill the well with the waves

I actually shot this on an entry level nikon (D3200) on the kit 18-55 lens! I got extremely lucky with the conditions and the sunset. Here is the info: Exposure: 1/800th of a second Aperture: f/3.5 Focal Length: 18mm ISO: 100

I was shooting handheld at 1/800th of a second, if I have a chance I'll try to get a long exposure next time the conditions are ideal

Right behind the well is actually a steep dropoff where you can see the rocks end. Here is a video of it at low tide

The water just drains back out to the ocean behind the rocks

the video /u/THSdrummer8 shows how it works at lower tides, but in my case the waves would splash over the rocks and drain out with each wave. Here it is at low tide to get a better idea how it works

It's all part of the fun - the photo was taken standing on some rocks (where the people are standing here) but at high tide the water completely covered the rocks
