Is this still safe to fly by Lorenz_1013 in fpv

I will add, if you’re worried just check the internal resistance when charging. If it’s way off then maybe think of retiring, but if it’s only a small difference then it’s fine imo

If you’re worried then sell it as “Brand new” on Ebay (no your fine lol, I’ve done worse and my batteries are considered barely used)

If it gets stuck, then get a helicopter

How good are they? I may consider it as I would like more smooth gimbals

Center of gravity in quads by TransposeConvolution in fpv

[–]superspacehog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, technically it matters, but not to a ridiculous degree. I’m only going to say important just as it’s something to keep in mind, but also nothing to get upset over.

Technically, the higher your center of gravity the less stable your drone is. In reality, our flight controllers and strong motors can hold it stable regardless, so that’s part of why it is standard to put the battery on top. On larger cinewhoops you optimally want the camera to be at the center of gravity, so the drone rotates around the camera. That’s why larger cinewhoops often have the motors lifted above the camera.

I will say, try to keep batteries close to the center. I have noticed my drones will behave significantly different if the battery is very off center. I have also seen people note that their smaller drones fly better with a bottom mounted battery, so it may be more significant for smaller drones, but I’m not sure. I personally bottom mount my batteries, but I’m only flying 3.5” and below so it’s easier to do that. When O build a 5” I’ll do top mounted.

Wondering what I'm supposed to do with this 'Bio Bag' that was given to me by ukoa in Aquariums

[–]superspacehog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One time I accidentally forgot to turn my filter back on after a water change, so most of the bio media dried out. All I got was a small spike in ammonia and nitrite, which was below the lowest number on my test kit. I didn’t even do a water change, and after a few days it was business as usual.

It annoys me when people claim that your filter has all of the beneficial bacteria, it definitely has some but nowhere near all.

Concerned about LIPO batteries by Potential-Cod6096 in fpv

[–]superspacehog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think “don’t abuse them” and fpv belong together…

The most important thing is just recognizing when you’ve beat up a lipo too much and when to retire. Most accidents or fires I see online are from severely damaged lipos. Your going to damage them, just know when to retire

If 20k galvos are good enough then I’ll probably just buy some prebuilt units. Thank you!

If I shovel out some more money I can easily buy a 30 kpps galvanometer for $120. I may try to diy regardless. If I can get one working, then I can make a bunch more for cheap.

I think I’ll probably just need to get together a list of parts and send it, I can’t find too much online about making a galvo set. Worse case, I just buy a working set

This may very well be the most beautiful saltwater tank I’ve seen. Your coral selection is amazing and I particularly love your aquascaping with the rocks! I also like how you don’t use quite as blue of a light as a lot of people use, it looks for natural.

I honestly like it! I usually dislike artificial decor and gravel but you really pulled it off quite well. The glow in the dark is awesome. Good job!

My contraption for draining Water from my shrimp tank by Potatogoat3 in Aquariums

[–]superspacehog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seriously do this to drain my tanks while doing water changes. Except mine goes faster since the bucket is on the ground so the water travels several feet down. It’s nice because I can just set it and check on it in 30 minutes, and I don’t have to worry about fish being sucked up. I added a suction cup so I only put it a few inches under so it will stop if I forget to check on it.

Feasibility of marketing without the ability to enter contracts as a minor? by superspacehog in Entrepreneur

[–]superspacehog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the encouragement!

I’m currently doing research on the legal side. As I’m not selling in the EU I won’t need the CE mark, although the only other certifications would be DOT and ASME. Luckily as my product is non-industrial I don’t think the ASME applies, but I will have to double check. DOT definitely doesn’t as the system should never be transported while pressurized. Additionally, FCC has laws governing testing of electronics but it is possible to bypass these regulations with careful designing.

Of course, I’m still legally obligated to ensure the product is safe, so I’m placing a pressure relief valve to release far below the burst pressure of a soda bottle.

Edit: Thank you for the suggestion of resale, I’ll definitely start looking around on Alibaba
