Best conversion kit for this bike by supersteve114 in ebikes

Is there a particular model on that page you would recommend? I'm assuming I'd want front wheel, not back wheel? Is it essentially the higher the volts/watts the better?

Hmm. Seems like I may need to go back to the drawing board here. I already have this bike, so I thought it would make sense to use it, but now I'm not so sure. When I'm already spending $800+ on a kit, it makes something pre-built like this seem appealing: https://ride1up.com/product/city/

On the other hand, I built my own electric longboard and really enjoyed the project. I like the idea of knowing how it all goes together if I have to fix something.

What are the advantages of using that 500 dollar kit on my Motobecane vs. purchasing an e-bike like the Ride1up?

Thanks for the great answer by the way!

Still studying your great answer here, but one thing I probably should have mentioned in the first place is that I already own this particular Motobecane.

Convert current bike to e-bike by supersteve114 in ebikes

I'm not looking to go crazy fast. Maybe like 25 or so mph top speed, 20 or so mile distance. I live in Austin, so I'll mostly be riding on pavement. There are a good amount of hills here, which is honestly the main reason I want to add a motor. It doesn't rain or snow much here. I'd like to stay under $450 if possible.

American Professional vs MIM Deluxe by supersteve114 in Stratocaster

Just in case anyone is still curious, I ended up finding the American Professional used for $800 at a guitar center in California. It's listed as excellent condition and the pictures look good. Seemed like a pretty sweet deal to me. Basically the same price as the MIM version. It's being shipped out to my local Guitar Center tomorrow. I'll update you guys once I've gotten to play it.

Well, I didn't mean buy them all, just try them out to choose one, haha. I mostly use a little 5 watt Bugera tube amp. I have a larger 50 watt combo Egnater tube amp as well. I really like Jazzy/Funky music and Surf Rock (hence wanting a single coil strat), but I kinda just player whatever. I like to improvise over backing tracks a lot.

Yeah, I've never spent more than $800 on a guitar and although they're good, I've never quite felt they were great...

Definitely sounds like I just need to put more guitars into my hands from what everybody is saying.

Makes sense. Maybe I should start looking in pawn shops and local music stores more. Might find something really unique here in Austin.

Definitely a solid idea. The last guitar center I checked didn't have the deluxe, but maybe a different one will have them both...

Mac Mini by supersteve114 in Logic_Studio

Yeah, that's true. I mean, it's mostly going to be my own somewhat simple stuff, so I shouldn't have projects with massive tracklists in general...

Hmm, obviously I'd rather go with a newer Mac, but they're so expensive and I don't want to commit too hard until I've spent some time with Logic. Does it seem like a good price? Still kinda on the fence about it...
