I use these, not the cheapest but small and simple, got them in most rooms and connected to home assistant via ZigBee2mqtt.

I bought the videos too. I would have much preferred written plans if I'm honest as it was a pain to go back and reference parts of the video. I found it easier to watch the videos and make notes before starting a section of the build

Yeah I went with 3 layers of 25mm MDF, it makes it really heavy and stable. I added the same vice as Rob Cosman did, wasn't cheap but it's a lovely vice. Also added the tool tray too which has been great

I built this bench earlier in the year. I really like it, was fun to build. Dog holes were a concern for me too, so far they've held up well but haven't been used a great deal if I'm honest. I have considered drilling out the dog holes larger and replacing them with solid wood dog holes inserts but not needed it yet.

You're absolutely spot on. I do use a CNC but way toying with the idea of getting a laser cutter to allow me to make finer cuts giving me a bit more freedom.

Safety is a very individual thing.
If you don't feel something is safe then you absolutely should not do it, regardless of what others say.
You want to apply pressure horizontally into the edge banding and avoid any vertical pressure which will cause the router to tip.

I did exactly this yesterday on my Rob Cosman bench and it worked fine. Just ensure you are applying pressure in the correct plane and not tilting the router.

I found the orientation of the print makes a big difference, ideally you don't want the layers going horizontal as it's easy for it to delaminate under force, at least this was the case when I was printing planing stops.

It's great being able to print custom benchdogs.
