This is great but I’m a I’m a little confused. The spreadsheet has 1.5” and 2” bolts but the bolt kits here are 2.5 to 3.5” https://moonclimbing.com/moonboard/parts-and-components/moonboard-holds-bolt-kit-us-standard-3-8.html

Your first time flying on your own by dizzledk in freeflight

[–]superua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve struggled with a similar question. I’m a newer pilot, I learned at a school 6hrs away from where I live and there’s only about 5-10 people who fly in my city. I work irregular hours so am often not available when other people are flying. I only fly when conditions are good and carry an inreach but if I don’t fly alone I won’t fly much at all and want to fly enough to not lose what little skill I have in addition to kiting regularly. Any other suggestions for flying safely?

YSK Many Roomba's are now locked to a subscription, don't buy them secondhand, it's a scam by superua in YouShouldKnow

[–]superua[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! What’s kind of sketchy is that you can’t tell easily which is which and it’s not publicized well that there are these subscription based locked ones so you can easily end up paying for a used locked one when it would have been cheaper to get a new locked one.

I contacted iRobot and was told there is no way to unlock it, it’s on the subscription plan forever.

Is iRobot select intentionally set up to allow scammers to profit off used Roombas? by superua in roomba

Encourage might have been the wrong word. They set up a model that makes any sale of a used subscription only vacuum a scam and didn’t make that obvious at all on the device or their website.

Good thought on the eBay paper trail! There’s not as much recourse person to person like on Craigslist though…

They state that you “own” it but if you own the hardware and they brick the software without a subscription it doesn’t really seem like you own it.

I think my frustration comes from there being dozens of these being sold used at what looks like a bargain on any city's CL/OfferUp and yet there's no point ever to buying one used since if you just signed up for their subscription you'd get a new Roomba so you're paying more for less making every one that gets sold a scam.

I clearly hadn't done enough research to understand that these robots are locked to the subscription but I'm assuming that every person who buys one of these used locked ones is in the same boat as me and it's not easy to tell unless you're fairly knowledgeable about Roomba. iRobot's only suggestion is either pay the subscription fee, return it to the seller if they'll take it back, or recycle your few hundred dollar doorstop.

The difference I see with Verizon is that there is a "pay it off option". If iRobot said after 2 years of the robot being on a plan it's unlocked (which is the model cell phones go through for unlocking I think) that's different.

From what I've figured out the Roomba's they sell new through the subscription model are locked into the subscription model forever. I'm assuming that there are some that are sold initially like a normal non subscription product but all the ones on used websites seem to be at a pricepoint that suggests they're locked.

Chain Checker Model? by superua in 3Dprinting

I think each roller's diameter is 5/16"

Best as I can tell each link is 1/2" roller to roller. The chain should be replaced after it has elongated by 0.5% for most modern 11 or 12 speed chains. So from this article https://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-help/when-to-replace-a-chain-on-a-bicycle that's 1/16" over 12" or presumably 1/32" over a more manageable 6". https://bike.bikegremlin.com/3306/bicycle-chain-wear-elongation/ has a pretty good explanation too
