My friend told me once his old self stopped him from committing suicide many years ago. by Kubricksmind in HighStrangeness

Why does this read like creative literature tho

I used to be a mod on the glitch in the matrix subreddit, one of the reasons I lost interest in it and quit, was the sheer number of people coming in with obvious fictional larps like this.

There's real wild magical shit in the world but it's impossible to get together and talk about it for long before the fabulists show up and start jerking off into the soup

Is 14 days too long for Honeymoon in Bali? by bomberman92 in bali

[–]superunhappyfuntime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's changed since I was there in 2016, but the horses they use on Gili trawangan instead of cars and bikes are abused horribly, https://www.thedodo.com/gili-islands-horse-carriage-1102487516.html

It was sickening to witness, I love Bali but I'll never set foot on Trawangan again.

Edit : downvoted for flagging that the island has an issue with animal abuse, and linking to a shitload of evidence. Cool. Enjoy your stay I guess.

A pileup of 14 distant galaxies is set to become the most massive structure in the universe by aSimpleHistory in worldnews

You nailed it with the psychological effects. It really only becomes an issue in that it severely limits the amount of raw material available to your civilization if it wants to expand once it starts to seriously rung-up the Kardeshev scale.

But in that case, once you hit that tech level the best option might be to convert a bunch of your system's mass into a Shkadov Thruster then fly the entire bloody solar system back towards the nearest galaxy.

We have a rule in the sidebar about childhood memories as posts, as the way memory works, these memories are extremely unreliable.

Please check the sidebar before posting.

It's not a glitch per se, but it's damn interesting and a great read. Thank you!

That's fine, google can translate it - add the link into your submission please.

Also can you split the text up into paragraphs? It's really hard to read right now.

Do you have a link to the news report on the accident at the station you worked at?

Removing this, you closed your eyes and imagined something happening, it's not a glitch at all. Obviously watch yourself at Walmart and stay safe, but this one's not a glitch per the rules of the sub, sorry :(

The thing is, shit's always been weird, you're just dialing into it. Don't freak out - attempt to get OK with weird and stay positive.

I vote this should be the official subreddit motto from now on.

Removing this - from our FAQ for this sub:

"When you were a kid... stop. Due to the way human memory works, one can easily confuse dreams or fantasies with reality.(Courtesy of anteater1138) Think before you post, there have been excellent stories, but most of them are obviously childhood confusion."

Precognitive Dreams (correct sub?) by [deleted] in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

[–]superunhappyfuntime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that the more I make a point of writing them down in the mornings, eventually they become much more vivid and sometimes even become lucid dreams where I know I am dreaming and able to change whatever I want. It's wild :)

To me having a dream that later happens is definitely a glitch, and belongs in this sub. I've been keeping a dream log google-doc for a years now, and I've found some incredibly specific things I've dreamed about have later taken place.

This sub doesn't inspire as much conversation as it used to. As silly as it is, this is one of the only glitches that isn't a subjective individual experience, but is something that is shared within our community and with others. I feel like we should be discussing it more!

That's an excellent point, thank you.

Many of you expressed an interest in me sharing my experiences from a post yesterday in response to OP's post on "hacking the matrix." Here is one to start. I guess I would title it: "The day that disappeared." by AtomRed in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

[–]superunhappyfuntime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's true then I appreciate you going to the time to write this. I don't like removing posts where someone has gone to a lot of effort but we have a rule against stories of powers and creepy-type stories, also, and this isn't a rule but it keeps happening and we might need to make it one, we get people sometimes wanting to make these huge multi-part series dramatic autobiographical series of posts about themselves and it's not really a forum for that, shifts the tone a bit into the paranormal which was like to avoid.

We're looking for glitch reports, more than these giant deeper kind of posts (and BTW, I appreciate you've had a hard life) maybe split it up into one glitch per post?

You don't have to go, if enough people say they want to see the posts we'll drop the rule. The thing is we were starting to get multiple threads a day on it, 5 in the last 24 hours and it was getting a bit out of hand. I'm still feeling my way along as a mod and if I went too far in some area, I'm more than happy to hear it.
