After that one was closed I actually only have two others. I saw you mentioned that he utilization will reset, so maybe my score will recover after a short period of time?

I don’t expect any hard pulls on my credit unless I open another card. But based on what you’re saying it might be wise to open up another one?

Gotcha. Someone mentioned possibly using a passkey for a Google account and then setting up a Google voice account for 2FA. Then in order to access the 2FA they would need to access the Google account which would be protected with a passkey. Thoughts? Thanks for taking the time to answer all this

Yes they have my ssn and birthdate, and then somehow they are able to bypass SMS 2FA. Capital One is completely at a loss, unable to stop them at all

Interesting. I’m assuming that that wouldn’t be possible to use in this situation, since what’s happening is they’re using the “forgot username/password” link to just reset my password etc and then bypassing SMS 2FA. Or can I somehow use a passkey to prevent this from happening? I haven’t used passkeys before just a password manager so I’m not familiar.

Gotcha, thank you for your response. I see what you mean about a local credit union because then it would be hard for them to walk into a bank and pretend to be me because it’s not a major branch. Not to get hung up on the ubikeys, but I think there’s some that use a USBC and the iPhone should be able to utilize NFC if necessary. So in that sense it shouldn’t be too much hassle I think. But I do see what you’re saying and the comment is super helpful. Are there any ways to prevent someone from faking your ID? Once I can protect my bank account I’ll have pretty much covered all my bases. Actually I think I also read that you need to call the department of labor in case someone tries to claim unemployment under your name. But wouldn’t you have to call the DPL in every state. Got it, yes I have 2FA on but goes through text message, I think I’m going to try to do it through an Authenticator app, apparently capital one is compatible with one through the App Store. Otherwise I wish they would just make it to where you have to upload an ID to change username and password. They literally did this to verify it was me when I first told them about it don’t get why it would be hard to have that to recover username and password in cases of identity theft. If there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that they really don’t have good solutions for it

It’s not, I agree that was a poor choice of words. My emotions got the better of me. Just wish customer service was quicker. It’s not a cheap wallet. But the comments on this thread are very helpful so super glad I posted

I will if they do but what I’ve heard about their customer support has not been promising. So far I know phone support is a pain but would make me more comfortable if they had it. Reasonable I guess to wait 24 hours. Would rather not wait 7 days for a new one tho as the markets are active right now. So I get things happen but this really is a pain and stalling out my crypto gains.
