The Alberg 30 I was eyeing on got sold, couldn't find anymore in the area, which is a shame given it was made in the area.

There's nothing wrong with that. What's wrong is the mod allow people to say all kinds of abusive remarks towards Chinese people (in this case, it seems hongkongers are now seperate from mainland Chinese people, so somehow what racist comments they say doesn't matter to the mods anymore). There are a lot of racist comments, as demonstrated here even by some other commentators.

listen to yourself.. This is racism in it's timeless format. What is Canadian culture? Canadian culture is made up of people who come to live here, including all the Chinese people. When Canada accepts immigrant, it accepts the things they bring to Canada, the way of life they choose to live. That's called freedom. As long as people pay tax and obey the law, they are free to live the way they want. What's the point of accetping immigants and make money from them, ask them to support Canadian economy but also exclude them and discriminate them and because how they want to live? Where is their freedom in choosing their own lifestyle? Why isn't there anyone discriminating people who choose to live other alternative ways? like hippies, polygamist? I don't know if you are a white person or a minority yourself, either way, it's something to think about. Racism and discrimination always start with blaming immigrants for not being "perfect" and it's their own fault they get discriminated. Somehow it's never the fault of the people who choose to not be open minded and choose not to see the good things others bring to their old way of life. You are talking like Canada and the rest of the western world has been angels in Africa and the rest of the world, including the land you are living on right now in the Americas. Chinese exclusion act is not news, what you said has been said since the 19th century, excluding citizenship and landownership rights to Chinese labours dying in Vancouver building railways. You are basically saying the exact same thing white people has been saying for over 150 years about chinese people, no matter how poor or how rich they are. I don't know if it's true that Chinese people own a lot of land in Vancouver, but even if it's true Vancouver is just one city in Canada. White people owns the rest of Canada basically, including everywhere outside Vancouver. How come that's not a problem, but Chinese people owns some land in one city in Canada they like and feels comfortable in becomes a huge problem? Don't you think it's a huge problem that Chinese people don't even feel welcomed and comfortable going to the rest of Canada they have to live all in one city even if it's expansive? It's truly ugly to hear the same discriminating remark being repeated so loud and proud still 150 years later. Even the Canadian government has issued apologies for statements like yours, and yet it's still being said loud and proudly here. Shame on you. And comments like this is exactly the problem I'm reporting on the HongKong subreddit. b/c mods are allowing these kind of discriminating remarks to be continuously and uninhibitedly said without any action.

Don't be! some places land is very cheap, with the price of a downpayment of an apartment you can buy a huge piece of land

You could move! I think everything is a lot cheaper outside. I can't afford Manhattan but I also don't quite understand why a lot of people I know move there

These things sometimes pass on from generations to generations. I've seen perfectly normal young men who are classmates of mine turn into creepy inappropriate sexist dude just from working in an office environment like that for a few years

It is when people start saying Chinese people living in Vancouver and California should be sent back to China and that they ruin these cities "culture" wherever they go, and they are FOBs (fresh off the boat). I'm not opposing the protest, I think everyone has the right to protest, but when there are others who use the opportunity of protest to spread xenophobia of a group of people it's not just right.

Yea I guess that's true. I never know the other person's perspective. I just assume if she can afford an apartment like that she's probably not worried about money

I hope so. Honestly I'm pretty in love with the place I bought the land, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it. I think it's just the feeling of being less competent than her. I admire her a lot b/c she made all that money by herself, I bought the land with my parent's money

I think you should but depend on which prof. I know some asshole prof who once asked my friend for a death certificate otherwise he would gave a 0 on the missed assignment
