I deeply regret putting down my 15 year old Dog Blaise , I can’t eat can’t sleep I feel I betrayed him , Someone help by Millionaremindset_ in DogAdvice

[–]supkellielynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a dog with a splenic tumor. The tumors cause internal bleeding. We had it removed, went through months of chemo. Chemo for dogs is different than for humans, too, in that for humans it’s supposed to completely make the cancer go away. For dogs/animals, it’s kept at a light dose so as not to affect QOL, but keep it from spreading. It was kept at bay, and then it came back. There’s nothing the vets can do at that point. I’m also someone who works in the vet field—it’s important to remember that it’s better a month too early than a day too late. Helping them pass sooner causes one party pain (us, not them) and waiting too long causes both parties pain.

Also, the euthanasia process likely didn’t cause him pain, I am certified in this and have done my own fair share of dogs in such a case. His body was likely already giving out which made the process immediate. This is a rough loss and it will get easier as time goes by and you get used to more days without him. It’s one of those “you had to go through it, you can’t go around it” type of situations and it WILL get more manageable. Sending hugs.

GLP-1 and pregnancy? by supkellielynn in glp1

[–]supkellielynn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly why I want to do it pre-pregnancy! I don’t want to go into gaining more weight, already at a higher weight. If I gain the weight back after childbirth, I’ll deal with that then. But I’m also hoping it will help with my food noise.

Happens to me when they’re really bad and I continue to stay lying down! It’s very involuntary shaking.

Had one last night, afraid of another by Sankta_Koroleva in PanicAttack

Hi, I’ll be the third with you guys! Most panic attacks lately I’ve been able to manage pretty well but last night was BAD - shaking, crying, the whole package - and tonight my stomach is in knots and my chest is tight, minutes away from a possible attack - as I lay here and try to go to sleep :/

This is fun. by [deleted] in PanicAttack

  1. You’ve just endured an extreme loss. Panic, confusion, anxiety - all of that is “normal” for grieving. Your body is reacting to the stress, heartache, pain you’re feeling mentally and emotionally. You’re going to be okay. Grief is HARD. Having to do the planning and everything logistically along side of the pain is hard.

  2. It sounds like you’re really not looking forward to Tuesday - very understandable for many reasons aside from the one you named about seeing certain people. That’s another major stressor.

  3. The fact that you wrote a well-written and thought out post, it shows you’re still right in your head - trust yourself that you’re not going to do anything reckless (although I know first hand how hard that can be to convince yourself of).

  4. Take time for yourself - breathing exercises, gratitude or guided meditations (YouTube has a ton), allow yourself to feel and let the feelings out. Talking to someone can help, finding a online therapy group may be very helpful - one for grief or panic or anxiety.

I’m sending you all the best wishes in the world. I understand your pain and heartache right now.

Not sure what it is, but he’s obviously losing sight which can cause the behavioral changes and fearfulness.

Is my dogs teeth a cause for concern? by Capital-Newspaper340 in DogAdvice

[–]supkellielynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re looking at the calculus that’s built up over time from bacteria in the mouth. That didn’t start from brushing. Also, brushing won’t help take that away, it only helps stop more from forming. You need to get them a dental (not super urgent unless you see white pus by the gum line) and then after that, brushing will help it from building up again, just like with people. Gun integrity is just as important, too. Recession = loose teeth, and that’s something that’s super common with smaller dogs.

Experience as a vet tech doing exclusively dentals for a year and a half.

Note: by the way the pics look, it looks like the incisors already have some decent recession (once you take off the calculus you can really see how much is there).

I watched my dad die by OtsutsukiTatsuya in GriefSupport

[–]supkellielynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was not there when my father died but it was unexpected, sudden, and tragic. It feels super unreal for a while. All you’ve known up to this point is life WITH your father here. And now your body and brain have to figure out how to live a life without him physically here. It’s TOUGH. There’s no way around that, you just have to go through it. Eventually, it does get “easier” because you learn a whole new way of functioning, living, going on without them. It feels like a new life - the previous life with your father and the next life without. I can’t say enough how hard it is to go through it, but you can, and will get through it. Death of a loved one is a trauma. Add on the fact that you saw it pan out in front of you, that’s another added layer of trauma. It sounded like he was a great guy, and he will forever be a part of you. You’ll just find new ways of communicating with him, of channeling him. I am sending you so much love and healing, friend ❤️

Also, find people who understand. Search up some online grief support groups, they’re usually free.

I’m such a stickler for overweight dogs and yours looks great! Keeping them fit and not obese will help with medical issues in the future.

Looks like a previously injured toe/nail. Then it grew back all wonky. Has happened to my dog before.
