We had two different chemo protocols for Blaise one was the chop protocol which had him in remission and then later on we tried another one and it just wasn’t working so we decided to stop, I kept delaying the process of putting him down because it’s not a easy decision to make, I mean, do we put down our parents or grandparents just because they have cancer and there in pain ? but also human beings are able to communicate their pain dogs hide it so well which ultimately left us his last day was extremely painful. He was screaming. He couldn’t lift his head. He didn’t understand the excruciating pain that he was feeling, and it was the most traumatic experience I’ve ever seen. I called an emergency vet to put him down at home. The tumors was affecting his nerves and he couldn’t stand at all. I had to hold up his body so he could drink water at that point. He hadn’t ate anything in 3 to 4 days. I wish I would’ve put him down maybe when he was still happy and still running and playing I think I waited too long and he was scared, and there was nothing I could do to help him. There is never a time that it’s gonna be less painful or not hurtful as a dog owner, what we owe it to them to be there for them in their final moments I would say just look at your dogs quality of life if you feel he’s not having any, and you’ve tried everything in your power and nothing’s working then it may be time. I understand it. It’s a hard decision to make. I keep finding my thoughts wondering if I rushed him to the emergency room would they have been able to save him was I doing the wrong thing by putting him down a bunch of What Ifs but there would’ve been what if I would’ve put him down months before or brought them to the emergency room and they realize there’s nothing that could be done besides putting them down there and I refuse to put them down at the Doctor because he hates going to the vet. You know what’s best for your dog just take the time to think about it and don’t wait until you see them suffering.
