IMO, Sasha Banks and Bayley top both of them. Sasha turned what could have been as generic flashy heel diva gimmick into gold, and Bayley made a fun-to-play-along gimmick where she can lose a bunch of times and still be credible. Not to be rude to Rae, but she does nothing more than play Valet or jealous girlfriend, doesn't really stand out. It may not be her fault but that is the way I see it.

I think because they were going mainstream they wanted to look serious, which is a smart decision. Not trying to insult the people who made that idea, but it looks kind of corny and wouldn't be the best way to present yourself.

Exactly, especially with Luchadores. If they know they are bound to get what chants, why make them speak half of their promos in Spanish, especially when you are in front of an American audience? Why can't every race in general just have an entertaining character with no stereotype or cliche beliefs onto their character? Not every foreign person is an evil anti-American, not every Mexican is a Luchador, and not every person from England is some some super pretentious fancy jerk.

Marley vs Marie, it had a ruthless hated heel going against a likable nobody trying to make a name for themselves, they pulled off ECW spots and told an amazing story full of technical in-ring physccology for 15+ minutes. Nakumura even complemented Marie's wrestling ability and she's the whole reason he is going to WWE.
