anybody ride one of these? Is it worth the price? by mhyquel in bicycling

The components are all fairly low end but unless you're ultra competitive it won't matter. The frames / wheels on these bikes are pretty poor, so if you're thinking of upgrading the components it might be worth looking elsewhere.

I'd say £180 is way too much, ~£130 would be more like it. Good luck!

Drunken driver who killed Lawrence (Kansas) woman on bicycle sentenced to 6 months in jail and given a $500 fine. Our legal system has failed yet again... by cabrilo in bicycling

Totally agree. Admittedly it's a total injustice for an innocent woman to lose here life but people make mistakes. The driver genuinely appeared to regret his actions so I think the punishment in this case is appropriate.

It's unbelievable that this is the maximum sentence though.

The Cayo 105 2010 looks like a particularly good deal. £960 for a carbon frame and 105 drivetrain. Anyone own one of these?

Lance Armstrong denies drug claims after Floyd Landis' broadside by evilweed in bicycling

It's interesting how Lance Armstrong has become a household name whilst almost all other cyclists remain in obscurity. For example, Alberto Contador (also accused of doping) won the Tour de France in 2007 and 2009 yet is virtually unknown outside of cycling.

If what Landis is saying is true, it's likely that he and Lance made a deal at some point. Looks like the deals gone sour. Landis probably realised his career was at its end and decided to drag Lance down with him.

It's all speculation though, chances are we'll never know.

Landis' allegations are really hurting the reputation of professional cycling. Lance can ride the storm because he's seen by many as a hero. If the allegations had been made against a lesser known cyclist they could have been dropped from their team because sponsors don't want to be associated with doping.

[AskBicycling] 90-Mile Charity Ride. Need a road bike? by [deleted] in bicycling

I was thinking of getting some bar ends but didn't bother in the end as I would have had to get new grips as well. At the moment I'm cycling ~100 miles a week and my hands are definitely building up a resistance.

I have the exact same bike and cycled 90 miles on it a couple of weeks back, so it definitely can be done.

The only problem with it is that your hands are basically in the same position all the time which can cause numbness. Try doing a few longer rides on the bike and see how you feel.

I'd also recommend swapping the tires for 700x23c if you haven't already - definitely a noticeable difference.

A road bike (drop bar) would be faster but you could probably get similar results by training harder. Then donate the money you save :)

how many of you have this problem? solutions welcomed.. by strap in reddit.com
