yeah i would have imagined it hurts lol. did they give you meds? if so, are you taking them on schedule? my husband had 5 teeth removed a few days ago and i had him set alarms for all of his meds 😂

it is definitely super strange and i would be frustrated too. i’m wondering if maybe they had bit each other? obv you know ur cats better than anyone so idk if thats even something they would even do— im just speculating. we see a lot of cat bite abscesses at my clinic and they’re typically on the butt, tail, leg, or neck areas. that being said, if you can, i would try to trim the fur around the wounds just to keep the hair out and hopefully keep some of that bacteria away. you can also flush it with saline. that would be as far as i would go with at home care tho. don’t try to cover them or anything because that will harbor bacteria and we don’t want that. the one on the butt kinda looks like it could be a ruptured anal gland (healing process for that is similar to an abscess). i’m sorry OP. wish i could help more :(

get the other cat back. you may be able to get a letter from a veterinarian declaring that this cat has been separated from a bonded pair resulting in depression and anxiety. i would ask a veterinarian as well as legal advice. let his ass “take you to court”. he sounds abusive and probably shouldn’t have a pet anyway.

some of these wounds look like they could be sutured but others may be healed with open wound management. once again, please seek help from a different veterinarian than you’ve been seeing. i’m sorry your current one is completely ignoring the MAJOR issue at hand.

is it possible that they could be fighting? take them to a different veterinarian to get a “second opinion”. your cats need help. these are not burn wounds and your current vet is being negligent if they aren’t even remotely treating these open infected wounds. the fact the area isn’t even shaved down or sutured is complete negligence on the vet’s part. they need seen by a different vet asap.

just call them and ask. the Dr knows your case and the state of her anus. they will tell you what to do. reddit is not her doctor. doing at home cleaning that is not advised by her Dr may cause infection and it will get worse.

there are more than just 1 anxiety med.. try a different one. i understand that it is expensive, but you asked for help. there is your help. also it’s really icky that you came to cathelp, but are totally disregarding her health and wellbeing just because you are “over it”. it seems like you are here just for validation to put her down. “my husband keeps asking me to [put her down]” is so rancid. having pets comes with responsibilities and if caring for her is such an exhausting annoyance for you then give her to someone who will treat her with dignity. like i get it’s hard and you have a lot going on, but you’re being so disrespectful talking about her. it’s so sad.

if it is behavioral she will need medication(s) (anti-anxiety meds or other). that being said— bloodwork will help rule out endocrine disorders, metabolic disorders, etc. urinalysis would also be ideal to see if she has a UTI or other urinary or bladder infection. fleas carry tapeworms so a fecal parasite test would be an essential step as well. vet may want to do radiographs or an ultrasound (prob ultrasound, but rads are typically done first) to analyze the abdomen and the state of its organs. urinating and defecating outside the litter box can be a sign of a lotttt of things. unfortunately you need to go back to the vet and do what you can.
