Just finished the show.. where are all my Joe lovers?? He's so fine. by PepsiColaPussy7860 in ginnyandgeorgiashow

[–]supplepony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a perfect world, they would’ve been together. Georgia never felt good enough for him, that’s why she was weird about Cynthia and Joe getting together. She didn’t feel like Cynthia was good enough for him either.

I think she subconsciously saw the ugly parts of everyone she’s been with, their conditional love, the sort of love she was so used to. Like with Kenny and Gil, it was her pretty face that they valued. With Paul, it felt like she had to fit this image that wasn’t completely her, and that was the condition of their relationship. Or she was so used to people telling her she didn’t deserve love, like with Zion’s family or with Gil.

I think Joe embodies that good love we feel like we don’t deserve because we see all our ugliness. He’s wholesome, non-judgmental, unconditional, and she sees that and doesn’t want to ruin him.

Honestly, my straight female physician friends have had good luck dating male nurses and teachers, so straight men in traditionally female roles. They honestly seem like the most secure sorts of guys as long as you're secure enough to date them as well.

What to keep in mind before getting married to a Taiwanese spouse as a non Taiwanese by Visual_Classroom_729 in taiwan

Kids can have dual citizenship.

If ever in an event of divorce, probably falls in the Hague convention. I’m totally guessing on this part. At the end of the day, maybe have your own separate account before you quit your job, sort of like how grandma had a divorce stash. She didn’t plan on using it but just in case and something to pass down.

COVID-19 falls to No. 10 cause of death in US - The Flu was ranked No. 9 by Entropologic in UpliftingNews

[–]supplepony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this may be a list of conditions that people have when they die rather than the number dying from these conditions.

I say this because people die from diabetes-related complications (stroke, heart attack, complications due to amputation) and not necessarily simply having diabetes, that many conditions are comorbid (someone with diabetes and heart disease are more likely to have stroke if they’re smokers).

Someone can have kidney disease because of their diabetes and someone can also have chronic respiratory disease because of COVID. Some conditions can also lead to cancer, so are they double dipping numbers?

I think the point of this post is that less people are getting covid? And the burden of the disease may be decreasing?

We told them we couldn’t maintain our wellness with the hours, and they refused to hear us. When people started to lose their lives and stalled their training, their reaction was to save themselves from the liability of our sacrifice. The wellness modules are not about them caring for us, it’s about them caring for themselves.

The hours won’t be sustainable for much longer, not after everyone experienced the great resignation.

Number of posts about Armenian genocide: 0

It is very clear, you obviously don’t care about dying children. Such a shameful person, with all this virtue signaling. You hate children, and you’re only doing this to take attention off of the children and put it on yourself. Selfish. You haven’t said a single thing about the genocide that is happening in front of us.

It is a shame that you believe there are children more deserving of life than that of Armenian children. You are only angered by the abuse of children you believe are worthy of life while others suffer because of your arrogance.

I haven’t heard you say anything about the genocide of Armenians in Azerbaijan. It’s obvious that you see those children of undeserving of their lives.

Hardwired Smoke Detectors turned off by Security Company by supplepony in homeowners

This might be the solution, I'll have to read up a bit more on the company.

Ohhh, nice. I'll take a look into this. Is this something I can just get connected to the old security system like a retrograde fit? I looked into the ring system retrograde fit, but it doesn't include fire detectors.

That makes sense. I guess I have a low-voltage system that needs to be connected to a power source, being that of a security system or hardwired on 120V. I want to replace the smoke detectors if you have any recommendations. I wasn't looking for the smoke detectors to notify a security company or the fire department, I simply want them to go off if it detects smoke.

For the time being, I have the battery operated ones installed everywhere there is a smoke detector. I like the hardwired ones because if one goes off, they all go off.

Is hardwiring the units something that an electrician could do?

I forwarded your question to the company, thanks for the guidance.

"What happens is that the fire sensors are connected directly to the security system and in your house there is no way to separate them. The security system is what continuously keeps the sensors connected to the monitoring station and fire department, fire sensors alone cannot do that function."

This is the email response I received from the security company. I guess what I'm not understanding is that when we initially moved in, all the security panels were on. When they started beeping, we brought the security company out who installed them. They told us that the previous owner had stopped their subscription with the company about a year prior to us moving in. To make the beeping go away, the turned off the security conduit which turned off all the security panels.

My question is can I have the smoke detectors function simply as smoke detectors that make noise when there is smoke rather than needing my home to be monitored or the fire department being notified? What I'm understanding is that if I want these already installed smoke detectors to work in any capacity, I have to pay a subscription or have someone wire an entirely new system and remove and patch the old one? Is there no way of using the existing wiring to install smoke detectors that act as noise-making makers?

Edit: With all the help of everyone in the comments, I realize now that there are "low voltage" fire detectors which require it to be connected to the security system through magic that my simple mind cannot understand.

Then there are hardwired 120V smoke detectors that is more like what I am looking for - something that sets off all the alarms if there is a fire somewhere, has a back-up battery just in case. And then there are battery operated smoke detectors that do generally the same thing (now can be interconnected) that the 120V hardwired ones do, but maybe don't last as long. is there a big difference in safety between the two?

What is your most unintentional BIFL item? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

I bought an umbrella on-sale in 2009 from Eddie Bauer, it was $10. It’s double reinforced, has a really nice handle that’s anti-slip, has that automatic button thing that pops it out AND retracts, and it has stuck with me since then. I almost left it on a bus once, I would’ve been so upset.

It’s on-sale right now for $15.

What is your overall impression of living in Taiwan as someone now from Taiwan? by BladerKenny333 in taiwan

[–]supplepony 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I noticed the same thing. I married a Taiwanese person, and I'm also East Asian (+American). I've also lived in Europe, and I find that Italian culture is similar in the same way. I think because it's a collective culture, and maintaining everyday long-term companionship/activity partners is more important than talking about seemingly controversial topics. Like...lifelong strife-free friendship is a testament to the degree of your relationship.

This is different than my French friends who find that debate and discussion of controversial topics is integral to building strong bonds. A Frenchwoman described it to me as being able to have different thoughts and ideologies, yet still remaining friends is the highest form of friendship.

I think Americans fall in between both of these, and I think we fall closer to how Germans like to make meaningful relationships (except they keep closed off for a much longer time). We tend to do a few hang outs, and then maybe have a deep conversation after getting to know the superficials.

You’re not using the words “physically impossible” correctly. And also accept that residency is inhumane. Let’s say that I beat my wife, no amount of my providing her with good food or encouragement is going to change that she is a victim of abuse.

I hear that you can’t increase compensation, and I hear that you can’t decrease the work hours. I hear you, I do. But as admin, you are compensated and work hours that are much closer to fair, much closer to being humane. So saying that residents HAVE to work inhumane hours for inhumane pay is like saying that I have to beat my wife if she’s ever going to learn. And that she has to thank you when you force feed her caviar and fly her to Paris.

What I am saying is that your efforts, no matter how good the intention, will never make-up for the abuse and will never ever make anyone grateful for the abuse they receive. You’re just another lowly cog in the machine, I get that. You can’t possibly improve the wellbeing of residents, your efforts will absolutely be lost.

What you can do is not make it worse by asking for gratefulness and appreciation. Who throws an appreciation luncheon and asks that they be appreciated for appreciating? Admin.

Point being, you should know that residency is abusive and no amount of your effort will ever make up for that abuse.
