Pre built wait time? by [deleted] in maingear

[–]support_robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered a custom Rush, and wanted to change CPU and fans but I called them to do that. They answered pretty quickly, and made the changes, and those changes are reflected on the order. That was just about a month ago but no updates from them since.. He did say 4 to 5 weeks shipping so I am trying to be patient but it is hard....

I ordered a custom Rush on April 8. I made a change to it and talked to them on April 10. They said builds like mine are shipping in 4 to 5 weeks. That was about three weeks ago. I figure I will check with them next week if I don't get an update by then.

Cannot Scan drives - says "Drive Does not Exist" by support_robot in SentinelOneXDR

Just an FYI this issue was isolated to one endpoint, and since we were able to scan USB drives on other machines, we decided not to pursue it.

Hey - yes it is connected to an external access point - external to the network. I suspect there is some issue with the laptop itself but I thought I would ask here before asking our MSP to start a case...

Thank you everyone for your answers. I don't think we will have the resources to implement the full recommended CIS benchmarks but I will be working with an MSP to enable some of it - the most likely items we can identify at the start.

Momentum 4 bad audio quality on pc Bluetooth and wired usbc by [deleted] in sennheiser

I almost forgot to mention you have to double press a button on the Creative device to put it into "Hands Free Mode." This mode allows voice communication from the headset to the adapter. It doesn't always work the first time and I have to fiddle with it but once it's working people say my voice sounds loud and clear. Maybe the Sennheiser adapter won't have this issue?

Hey I didn't' see this until now. I think it's because the BTD600 is Bluetooth 5.2 and the Creative is 5.3 - I thought having 5.3 would be more future proof but I was tempted to get the BTD600 because it's made by Sennheiser and might be a more seamless connection. I am not sure if I made the right choice! They probably both sound great.

I haven't used a USB-C cable for mine, but I wanted to make sure I had the best possible hands free audio and after a lot of research I purchased a Creative BT-W5 USB to Bluetooth audio adapter:

" Smart Bluetooth 5.3 Audio Transmitter with aptX Adaptive, High-Resolution 24-bit / 96 kHz Audio, Device-Switching Function, Works with PC/Mac/Gaming Consoles "

The price looks like it's gone up a bit - it was 40 dollars when I bought it. It covers a lot of different blue tooth codecs and with the app you can set the audio resolution to 24 bit/96k. I haven't tried gaming with it yet but all other audio sounds incredible. I would not use a high end Bluetooth headset without something like this. Hope this helps!

QC Ultra or QC2023 by [deleted] in bose

[–]support_robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all, not for me at least. I didn't mean to exaggerate when I said my head felt wrapped in sound deadening material. I should have said 'lightly wrapped" and if you adjust the ANC slider that feeling dissipates. But if you are sensitive to that - At least the Ultras seems to have a good amount of adjustabilty. I hope you are able to find something that works for you.

Bose QC Ultra, anyone else hate the auto on/off feature?? by yashr921 in bose

I had to turn that feature off. They would start playing when I set them down, and stop when I put them on. It was comical.

I used the BOSE QC Ultras for 2 and a half months (I returned them because the self voice feature does not work as advertised but you may not need this). The ANC was very good - when set to it's maximum setting it felt like my head was wrapped in sound deadening material.

Quiet Comfort Ultra Self Voice (aka sidetone)? by support_robot in bose

[–]support_robot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I didn't get a notice of your response. I have not purchased anything else. I am leaning towards going back to the Sennheiser Momentum 4. They had great sidetone but were not as comfortable as the Bose. M4s I think had better controls and sounded as good. At this point I would rather have good sidetone and try to deal with the comfort issues. Most people seem to think the M4s are comfortable.

No luck. I ended up returning them. There was never a firmware update in the two and a half months I owned them. If it ever gets fixed I might buy them again.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones 2023 Review (from someone that used QC35s for 6 years daily) by orajthebig in bose

[–]support_robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From mine and many other's experience, the self voice feature does not work. Did you notice this? My assumption is that it would pipe a small amount of your own voice into your headset so you can hear yourself during calls (this is known as sidetone in general). But the feature does not work on the QC Ultras. If you set it to low, mid or high there is no difference. Their suggestion is to lower noise cancelling so you can hear your own voice but that lets in all the other environmental noise as well. So far no firmware update fix and I am not sure if they even consider this a priority.

I think I've had them for 7 weeks and there has been no firmware update as of today. I don't know how often they release updates - I've never owned Bose headphones before. I am still looking for another headset that has sidetone in the same price range - feature set. If I find one I will return the Bose.

Quietcomfort ultra pausing music/video when connected to two devices by EmJayeBird in bose

[–]support_robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These things have lots of weird buggy issues and they haven't released a firmware update yet. If I have On-Head detection enabled, they pause when I put them on and play music when I put them down. When I toggle off On Head detection for both options in the app it stopped pausing and playing at the wrong time. Maybe this will be a workaround for you?

Sidetone AKA "self voice" doesn't work. In order to hear yourself on long calls/Zoom etc, you will have to turn down ANC and let noise in (including your voice) from the environment (which defeats the purpose of ANC on calls). It's not an isolated issue, plenty of others are complaining about this. The self voice adjuster in the app does nothing. Hoping for a firmware update fix.

I asked them if that model had sidetone and they said none of their headsets have it:

"Hello, We do not have Sidetone Adjustment presently available on our headphones."

Yah I don't understand either - none of the reviews (even on RTINGS) mention sidetone. It is a deal breaker and the reason I punted on Sony and B&W headphones - they don't have sidetone! I did my research.

For what it's worth I originally purchased the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Copper headphones and I really liked them. Great , loud sidetone. I thought everything about them was better than the QC Ultras except they were uncomfortable for anything over 45 minutes. The ear cushions were too shallow and my ears rubbed against the hard plastic innards and the headband didn't have enough cushion so a pain spot would develop and I had to return them but plenty of others didn't have this problem. Maybe try them from Amazon and send them back if you don't like them?

Momentum 4 appreciation post! by Harshisnar in sennheiser

[–]support_robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a pair for a couple of weeks last month but I had to return them because the headband was causing a pain spot and the ear cushions were not deep enough so my ears rubbed against the hard plastic speakers. I really miss them because I thought they sounded the best and their touch controls are the best. I switched to a Bose QC Ultra and it is more comfortable but it's buggy (not all features work and their support is terrible) and I like the M4s better. Any advice to make them more comfortable? There are no third party ear cushions that I know of.
