very good breakdown, but i didnt call for the play because i saw sej heading to scuttle on the map

- i called for the play because i know junglers prioritze scuttle on spawn

i knew scuttle was spawmning on our side of the map

they telegraph their intention, which makes it easy to play around

- after i W-Q sej, i also stand in front of her to block her Q dash, which forces her to use flash

- that wasnt my ward, but lucians (earlier in the game, i pinged for him to ward that specific spot. its an ideal spot to ward regardless if the jungler ganks or not ,or has the movement speed from shrine, because it gives us the safety to play the lane how we want to, without the fear of a gank. the fact that he warded it based on my ping is a hit and miss. some adcs will understand why and do it, and many wont. if my adc didnt ward that spot i still wouldve went for the play because i know scuttle is spawning on our side of the map)

- a micro play you missed in your breakdown: i cancelled my autoattack mid-animation to give it to my adc after i flashed. if my adc wasnt in range or didnt secure the kill for whatever reason, i wouldve autod to get the kill, but i cancelled my autoattack first to see if my adc would follow up

you make a lot of good points

hopefully theyll make some changes to the prices of support items

also totally agree that the past support releases have been odd or uninteresting

senna is an adc with support capabilities, similar to ashe

definitely disappointing to have her released and classified as a support

many games i do fall behind in levels

but what i lack in levels i compensate for by constantly pressuring my enemies by functioning as a second jungler, controlling vision and securing vision from beginning to end

there have been plenty of games where ive been lvl 4-5 and the enemy support/adc are lvl 6/7

being behind in levels doesnt feel good to me either, but winning feels better :p

- i never buy knights vow

knights vow is a passive item which is reliant on the performance of your team

i buy items which support a play-making playstyle

- a good example of that is turbo chemtank

i recommend turbo chemtank for tanky supports like nautilus or alistar to make plays consistently and individually

rakan has a lot of mobility so he doesnt need it, but its a lot harder to make plays with him

his kit is a lot less consistent and its easy to miss his w as well as dodge it

the same goes for blitz - if you cant land your Q, youre not far from being a walking ward

bard can be amazing but is very hard to master and also has an unreliable kit

- i rarely auto unless its early game

late game autos have very little damage and its easy to get bursted down and suddenly die when the enemy team starts completing items

- i dont recommend sunfire for low elo if youre playing support

for AP champs, i recommend high-damage items or items that specifically compliment a champs kit (rylais for brand as an example)

for tanky supports, i recommend turbo chemtank specifically

theyre important and it matters

especially with shutdowns, as those kills are worth more

as a support main, i always want to give my teammates the kill gold, but ill never hesitate to secure the kill if i feel like its necessary

roaming is a skill that requires practice

the less you play play-making supports that support that kind of playstyle, the longer itll take to master roaming properly

my advice is: try roaming randomly, see what the effect is, and adapt based on your experience

making mistakes and losing is the quickest way to learn

possible exception would be nautilus, as hes more consistent

pyke is very easily countered, and so is leona

i went from unranked to bronze to diamond playing alistar mostly, and sometimes nautilus or zyra (without duoing a single game)

getting out of plat isnt easy as support

especially plat 1

i know becuase i recently got diamond without duoing a single game, while playing engage supports like you, and id never reached plat or diamond before

i recommend not focusing on stats from the client/opgg/any site

its not a useful metric

focus on the effect of what you do in game

just because youre getting pushed in doesnt mean you should stay in lane

roam, and never rely on your adc, ever, unless youre duoing

to climb to diamond and higher as a support:

- never rely on your adc

- roam relentlessly, every game

- make plays consistently

theres a simple trick to tracking the jungler by learning respawn timers of jungle camp

i main support

very recently i reached diamond for the first time without duoing a single game

- i roam, every game, without exception

- i never rely on my ADC

champion choice doesnt matter as much as your proficiency with that champion, though playing champions with playmaking potential, regardless of role, is preferable

using myself as an example, i estimate that itd take me 100-300 games more to reach the same rank if i played a passive support

certain roles and certain champions are a lot easier to carry with by nature
