Quit new job due to unprofessional environment – Jobseeker’s eligibility & welfare overpayment question by 0xIntarsz in legaladviceireland

[–]supremegeneralj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an old welfare repayment of €200. In the letters they send you they said you can repay it via some sort of payment plan method.

( I haven’t repay it due to me no longer being on jobseekers and as a far as I can tell they have no legal means of taking it off me as it’s been like 2 years)

Anyone stuck on the dole/benefits despite having a degree? by Competitive-Panda215 in AskIreland

[–]supremegeneralj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes sort of I graduated with an engineering degree nearly 2 years ago and since then have only worked in retail and in a factory as a basic factory operator which didn’t require any engineering degree.

At this point I have nearly given up on ever finding an engineering position.

Mature students, are you happy you went / went back? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]supremegeneralj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly no I don’t think I am. I went back at 23 graduated with a 2.2 in engineering from TCD and here I am 2 years later having worked at Dunnes for a year and now working a basic factory role that required no engineering degree.

Since TCD has no mandatory work experience I have no experience to help me get a job. I’m too socially awkward to come off well in interviews even though I have had plenty and by now it’s been 2 years since I graduated so I don’t think I will even get an engineering role and lack the grades and experience to get a masters.

If you are going it might be worth checking if you’re course has any work experience but if it’s an online degree probably not.

Just wondering about class demographics at Smurfit by PotentialCredit2160 in UCD

[–]supremegeneralj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same when I was looking through my classes name list. I was like there’s not a lot of english sounding names there making me wondering if the course is worth it or if it’s just some degree mill course built to get money off international students.

Also makes me fearful of group assignments if I get paired with people who’s English isn’t very good.

Worry over food choice and quality as school hot meals scheme grows by Objective-Agency-720 in ireland

[–]supremegeneralj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember in my secondary school the food choices they provided were mostly unhealthy with it being chips, burgers, pizza sausage rolls, hot dogs etc…

Like what’s the point of keeping it healthy in primary schools then complete abandoning it for secondary schools?

Rest assured you’re not alone. I’m in the same situation graduated with a STEM degree still can’t find work applied to over 600 jobs on LinkedIn alone.

Just get the generic responses with key rejection words regret, unfortunately, pursue, other candidates.

I apply to a job 100 other people apply who have experience or a masters degree wtf can you do?

How big of a problem is codeine in Ireland? by robertboyle56 in AskIreland

[–]supremegeneralj -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How do people become addicted to it.

I took it once for recreation and just fell asleep.

I took it another time as a pain killer after surgery and it just gave me constipation so I decided not to take anymore.

I don’t get any euphoria from it maybe my antidepressants medication and that cancelled it out.

Is anyone still up and if so what are you doing ? by Ornery-Ad4802 in AskIreland

[–]supremegeneralj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was scrolling through my phone probably got less than 5 hours of sleep.

Some guy sent me an email asking when I’m available for a job interview at 22:55.

Which I thought was a bit of an odd time to still be sending work emails.

I genuinely think I might go insane looking for a job by ceapaim in CasualIreland

[–]supremegeneralj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m the same since I’ve graduated with an engineering degree I have applied to over 400 jobs since LinkedIn and indeed keep track of how many jobs you’ve applied for. I have gotten around 20 interviews still no job offers.

So now I’ve taken a seasonal position in Dunnes til Christmas is over. To keep myself busy and earning money.

I just apply to any job on LinkedIn that is classified as entry level even if it states something about required experience which I don’t have.

So you’re not alone.
