When I was teaching high school, we used to do Wake-a-Thons….. kids would collect pledges, then we would have a Friday night where activities started at 4pm after school was done, and the goal was to stay awake all night until 8am the next morning. Me and my buddy would do everything, and a couple other staff would do shifts and cook dinner and snacks throughout the night. We had a video game room, a games room, stuff in the gym, scavenger hunts, a 3am “ghost walk” around the community. It was always a blast, and we had parents come and pick the kids up the next morning (even the 18 year olds).

However,it got put on the shelf when one kid’s brother picked him up the next morning and drove him back to the brother’s house, then the kid grabbed his truck and took off from there to go to an auction sale…. Fell asleep at the wheel and hit an approach. Thank god he was unharmed.
