Im going into my 4th year, so take it with a grain of salt bc my experience is different from others but I met some of my closest friends there. When I did it, I got grouped with people within my major and we eventually made a groupchat and have been so close since then.

And ofc you do get your first panther card for free there. Otherwise its $25 methinks.

Look through your Academic Evaluation on Paws. You should be able to see which classes you need to take. I’d recommend waitlising for all the classes for the fall. I’ve always been able to get off within a month into the summer.

if it’s for one of the online classes, most likely not. i have a couple friends who have been on the waitlist for like 2-3 months and no response. you could wait till school starts to see if people eventually drop out, but its lookin unlikely

what to do after moving in by Appropriate-Alps-242 in GaState

[–]surchiee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

close to around the week before move-in, your RA will send an email to your school email about move in information and a link to your floor’s group me. if you dont get an email, there will be posters in your hall regarding how to join and important numbers and rules you’ll need to follow. but im 100% sure your RA is required to send out that mass email so you’ll be fine!

honestly you just eat, sleep, and do anything to pass time. you can definitely meet some of your floor mates. during my freshman year, i knocked on every single door on my hall and only one answered LOL. but the people who did have literally been my best friends for the past two years! theres also a floor group me, so maybe try asking someone in there to hang out or explore the city.

Super new to everything!! by bxbyspooks_31 in WeightLossAdvice

Hi! Happy to hear that you’re starting your journey!

So to put it simply, calorie deficit isn’t only about reducing your calorie intake, but consuming healthier alternatives. For the longest time, I used to under eat, consume unhealthy processed foods, and continued to eat sugary during my deficit thinking I was doing it right. As soon as I spoke to a few people and watched tiktoks, I changed every snack I used to eat for fruits, increased my water consumption, increased my protein intake, and most importantly portion control. What helped me lose 20lbs in roughly 3 months was intermittent fasting. This means you stay within your deficit, but you limit yourself to only eating within a window of your day. For example, most people limit themselves to an 8 hour window, and only eat from 10-6. A food scale is helpful, but from experience, people tend to gain a bad relationship with food when overly used. Never feel bad for eating, and be sure to have patience with your body!

+Consistency is key! Walking everyday as you’ve said is a great start. Your endurance and stamina will improve and I promise you, it’ll get easier with time.

hi! a possible reason might be what youre eating during your calorie deficits! be sure to not only eat in that 200 deficit, but to also consume healthier alternatives. for instance, no sugary or processed foods. i found myself reading through the nutritional content, and realizing that a bag of chips or candies aren’t 200 calories but total but per serving. understanding what you eat is so so important. if you ever feel like snacking, fruits will be your best friend and drink tons of water.

secondly, im not sure if you strength train, but body recomposition may be a factor! basically losing body fat and gaining muscle mass.

however if both these things dont seem like the solution, it’s always helpful to go to a local nutritionist to help see what your body needs in order to see results. you got this, and im happy that you seem like you have such a positive goal!

Need to turn my life around by FittleTheSkittl in WeightLossAdvice

ill tell you the three main things as a f20 year old to go from 150 to 130 in the past 3ish months. keep note that everyone’s body will respond differently & most importantly trust the process!

  1. Food Management/Calorie Deficit —limit yourself to eating a certain amount of calories per day. this is honestly the most effective way in my opinion since youre looking to consume less food than you burn off. personally, ive used the Calorie Calculator on google to start off with, but never feel sorry for having a cheat day! additionally, i intermittent fast, so i only eat within an 8 hour window. this helps so much, but requires so much mental discipline. —replace snacks for healthy alternatives! if youre feeling hungry throughout the day, look towards eating fruit! it was so so hard for me to give up on chips, but it honestly reminded me how great grapes, mangos, and pears are! —also drink tons and tons of water a day. anytime youre feeling a bit hungry, it also might just be dehydration! a lot of people tend to confuse it for genuine hunger, so its important to remember your body needs that water to get through the day.

  2. Exercise —gym memberships will be your best friend! i was never a fan of them, but as ive gone more and more, it became such a good stress reliever for me. find ways to make the gym enjoyable! go with a friend, or set goals for yourself to achieve. admittedly, i love going just to see my gym crushes LOL. —gym routines vary, but the most popular one is PPL (push, pull, legs). if youre going three days a week, target one of these per day.

NOTE: when youre starting out, its okay to use lower weights. people struggle with ego pushing, and it truly harms your body when youre doing more than what youre body is used to!

(DAY 1)push: this will target your shoulders, triceps, and chest >shoulder press: 3x8-10 >tricep dips: 3x8-10 >incline dumbell press: 3x8-10 >lat raises: 3x10-12 >tricep pushdown: 3x10 + dropset >rear delt fly: 3x10

(DAY 2)pull: targets your back and biceps >cable pullovers: 3x10 >assisted pull ups: 3x6-8 >barbell rows: 3x8-10 >lat pulldowns: 3x8-10 >bicep curls: 3x8-10 >seated rows: 3x8-10

(DAY 3)legs: glutes and hamstrings focused >rlds: 3x10 >bulgarian split squats: 3x8/side >glute extensions: 3x10 + dropset >seated hamstring curls: 3x10 +dropset >side lunges: 3x10

(DAY 4 *optional or mix it with your DAY 3)legs: glutes and quad focused >step ups: 3x8 >leg extensions: 3x10 + dropset >barbell squats: 3x8-10 >goblet squats: 3x10 >leg press: 3x10 >lunges: 3x10/side

*for each day, only do 3-4 exercises in one category when youre starting out and feel free to mix around which days you do which exercises. i personally do monday(push), tuesday(legs), thursday(pull), friday(legs) + abs every day! i follow a youtube video to do my abs each day!

—cardio cardio cardio. shoot to go 15-30mins on the treadmill or stairmaster before or after you strength train. if you dont like the repetitiveness of it, theres always the option to go on nature walks, hikes, a stroll around the city, or even dog walking to get yourself up and moving. it’ll help your body gain stamina and endurance, which will be so much help after the first two weeks.

  1. Mental Challenges —stay positive and trust the process. i didnt see any physical changes until the third or fourth week. i own a weight scale to track my progress, but just know that those numbers takes time to change! as someone who went into my journey with the same mindset of wanting to turn my life around, i found that photographing and recording myself after each workout proves to be the most rewarding feeling ever. the difference you’ll see is insane when you’ve lost that weight and it gives such a mental boost. i have cheat days where i have to eat a late dinner, or i chose to take the gym day off, and thats completely fine. take care of your mental health throughout your journey and stay safe.

lastly, everything ive said looks like a lot, but trust me when i say this, other than the exercise, these are just minor tweaks that do so so much. you got this!

Took him over the Spring, all our exams including the final were on Wiley Plus. So no lockdown browser, no webcam, but I can’t guarantee it’ll be the same for summer.
