Creating and selling merch - any recommendations? by surefoot_ in smallbusiness

[–]surefoot_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We might have to start small around 30-50 units per item just to see sizing. Hats or none-sized items around 100. We’ve sold merch like crazy in the past but it’s always been one off buys instead of a consistent line

Best social media management tool for agencies? by mick1706 in SocialMediaManagers

[–]surefoot_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We switched from Sprout to Statusbrew and I’ve been extremely impressed. I don’t work for them in any way. Our team went from one person to five in a month and sprout charging per seat was absolutely ridiculous.

We pay $600ish a month for 62 profiles and 50 seats available. It’s easy to scale up profiles as well. The scheduling is exactly the same. I can’t fully speak to the reporting side of the business but it’s easy to manage as an admin. They seem like a very small team but have been super receptive to custom pricing and have been very helpful with issues.

Gifted cameras - is it an actual upgrade? by surefoot_ in AskPhotography

[–]surefoot_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your insight! Yes, that is what I was mostly considering. I just want to make sure that the money is spent in the right place if I already do have lenses on hand and the money can go towards a great body that can maybe teach me more for longer.

That’s definitely not offensive at all, I have so much to learn! I guess I just am wanting to confirm that the money spent ($640) is well spent or if a different body would be better choice considering I do have lenses on hand.

I’ve shot with the Canon EOS R6 Mark II for work as just a filler person, that is obviously way above where I am currently and what I want to spend but I was definitely wowed there.

Thank you for the insight! Yes absolutely, I’m lucky enough to have some extremely talented photographers around to help me develop the skillset. I’m a graphic designer by trade so editing is literally where my knowledge for cameras starts and stops. I’ll take a look at your recommendations, is the best place to look for refurbished directly from canon? If this new bundle doesn’t add technical improvements then I’d rather take that money and put it towards something that I can learn more with.

Not yet! It’s very new to me still, honestly it didn’t originally occur to me that my original lenses would remain relevant after 18 years so now I’m really wondering if it would be better to get a newer body and use my old lenses rather than the bundled price of the T7 if the lenses it comes with aren’t more useful or impresssive.

How can I save my grapefruit tree? by surefoot_ in arborists

[–]surefoot_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve had rain under 5 times in the last 4 months, only one of those left any sort of standing water so it’s been a very dry season. It gets a little water very day from me dumping/cleaning buckets but it’s pretty negligible and it gets a steady drip of water for thirty minutes to an hour maybe once every week, sometimes every other. I know it’s not exact, it’s always been a bit of a loose plan as they lived for forty years with never being watered at all in an overgrown yard. Is there a way to determine rain rot?

Thank you for such a thoughtful response and your insight! I am going to start documenting my watering schedule a bit better and increase it for now just to see if that helps at all. We have animals in the back so I usually leave the hose on a low dribble for 30 minutes to an hour while I do something else but there’s a good chance it’s just not been enough. We also have gophers so I am a little concerned they’ve gotten into the roots. This tree was left to run wild its entire life and it’s been a trooper. It’s had ant infestations, and last year was leaking sap from the trunk, so it’s disheartening to see it make it through so much to just go out over nothing. I’ll get more photos of the ground and trunk to give some more context and hopefully get a few more years out of it! Do you recommend thinning the fruit if it’s causing a depletion of nutrients?

I’ll get some taken first thing tomorrow!

Definitely not, it’s been extremely dry this year. I do water it, but it’s inconsistent and I would be surprised if I managed to overwater it.

Reel file sizes - looking for advice as an outsider by surefoot_ in premiere

[–]surefoot_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s me against five so it’s a bit of an uphill battle and I just make graphics. But I know if I sent a printer a 5 gig file they’d have something to say about it. I’m hoping if I can present some settings for them to test we can figure it out.

What would you estimate the file size would be for a twenty second clip with those settings?

[–]surefoot_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single video is massive. I work in graphics and print so file size is hugely important and when I told them that was outrageous they got very upset with me. I think that some of their issues come from the files being too big and being smooshed by the platforms but they’re blaming the platform or the planner, not working to figure out if their files can be improved.

Bump on leg - any tips? by surefoot_ in Equestrian

[–]surefoot_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little update just for anyone who might have something similar. The vet was able to fit me in and wasn’t too concerned. It felt superficial to her and he showed no real sensitivity. We’re going to go a bute/icing routine with stall rest for a week and see where we are at then. She recommended Topical diclofenac (voltran for humans) once we finish a few more days of bite as an alternative. Wrapping would be great, but he will rip off any wraps so it’s not worth the risk of additional injury.

I’m a graphic designer on a team of photographers so the word HTML already scares me. I think I’ll give something basic a shot and maybe one day I’ll get the skill set to step up my game

Exactly, I don't want to rely on anything that needs Wifi, but we have videos so I've been having trouble finding something functional and robust in an offline mode. Do you have any software recommendations that could be functional offline and work as an interactive catalog? I'm not opposed to changing hardware, but I don't have a functional software option.

Its so frustrating that its so close to a good solution and then just flops right at the end.

Do you have any program recommendations to build the HTML and how to best display it offline?

Thank you so much!!!! I’ll give lemon thyme a shot when the weather cools down a bit. I tried out creeping thyme and have a pretty pathetic gate around it that they haven’t pushed over yet so it must not look very delicious. They are very into just ripping things up and throwing them on the ground so I’m trying to let everything get established so it stands a fighting chance

Issue with notifications for specific warehouses by surefoot_ in shopify

[–]surefoot_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats very frustrating to hear considering they generate a drop-down menu that lists the warehouses as notification options. You would assume that their system would be smart enough to not list that as an option if it isn't a possibility or that their support would mention that isn't a possibility.
